Range Indicator broken for Ranger Longbow.
Don’t have a ranger myself so I can’t check, but I do remember they have a trait that increases longbow range.
Are you using this trait? Perhaps the range indicator doesn’t take it into account.
But I didn’t shoot the thackeray

Afraid I’m currently only a level 7 so I haven’t used a single trait :P
It’s been like that for everyone since the beginning. Be glad you’re not dealing with it as a Thief. Our Short bow range indicator cuts out sooner forcing us to spam 1 from a safe distance cuz the red bar refuses to allow auto attack to kick in.
Wouldn’t be able to tell what that range really is within the bar but most ‘lobbing’ projectiles go further than they’re supposed to.
It’s actually a good thing. I’ve been using LB for a while, so I fire off my hunters shot while out of range and walking forward, and it hits. Means I have like 1550 range or something lol. If you’re firing down from higher ground you can also hit things that are “out of range”
Shhhh, a dev might hear about it. -LOL {:รพ
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Same thing happens on staff Elementalist, out of range pops up but I do damage anyway…
Just add it to that mountain…called GW2 bugs…
This isn’t a bug; its working as intended.
What the red bar illustrates is if the enemy is within the stated range of the skill. As long as someone is within that range the auto-attack will be turned on. If they are outside of it, it turns off.
But due to the physics of the game, projectiles can actually travel further than their stated range based on height and other factors. The auto-attack just doesn’t have detection for the actual range of a skill so you need to use them manually past a certain range.
