the vast majority of all the gear 1-79 looks exactly the same….once i hit 80, i found out my higher level gear also looked sort of the same….and it doesnt even look cool… i didnt level to 80 to look like some poor pirate with a raincoat on….seriously.

and another problem, when fighting in Orr, rangers do such low AoE damage the mobs are dead by the time you get all of them off and cant even do enough damage to loot them half the time…

Have you looked at the cultural armor, or dungeon armor?

I have a mix of cultural, crafted and dropped armor, and I’m pretty happy with it. I agree that most of the medium armor tops look basically the same, but there are a few that look pretty good.

Take a look here, you might find one that you like. http://dulfy.net/2012/07/21/gw2-armor-previews/

I had the same problem with my ranger,

I was inspired to play a plate class because their level 80 karma armor looks pretty great.

Yeah it’s kind of sad ):

If you’re female there’s only 2 decent sets.

Level 70 Duelist armor and T3 Human cultural armor.

Depending on which Order you chose, a lot of those skins look pretty good. A lot cheaper than cultural, too.

I’m pretty partial to the T2 cultural armor as well. Falconer, I think it’s called. I hope to never see another longrider coat for as long as I play the game. Taking my Ranger to 80 has ensured that.

For some reason I really dislike the Arah armor. However I’m a big fan of CoF, I feel like most people will grind for that look so I think it might be too common. I turn into a bit of a hipster occasionally.

RIP in peace Robert

Rangers do low AoE? Try a Longbow with Piercing Arrows. Heck, Barrage alone will tag entire waves.

Barrage, trait up traps, pet with aoe, run axe + torch, even strafe around with your shortbow #2 hits a wide pack of mobs if you’re work the angle.

Re: the looks
What I thought was cool at 30 (cuz at least it was a break from what we’d had) got old along the way. There technically are new models. They just look the same unless you put ’em side by side.

All of the Norn Cultural armor is good for Rangers. Honestly, Norn have BY FAR the best looking cultural gear. Puts every other race (and ALL the mediocre dungeon / karma sets) to shame.

shrugs I used an variety of high level and low level gear to attain the look for the engineer I wanted.. educated adventurer who looked like he was fairly wealthy.
