since player progression is a topic, why not pet progression? or even rare vanity pet skins that are hard to get.
I am sure many rangers would prefer something over what is currently available, such as a raptor over a cat skin, or a griffin over an eagle.

i am not saying these are things that should be flat out given, but something to work for, do a task for, or offer special rewards for completion such as adding a spawn to home instance for such a creature upon completion of an achievement.
GW1 did have an area dedicated to taming and re-taming pets that were hard to get and required special needs to get them such as the moss spider; which was a daily lottery box reward if you were lucky, you get 1 moss spider egg.

I think that having more vanity pet skins as well as hard to get skins will actually add much more depth to the individuality of a ranger than the currant status allowing for a wider variety of tastes to be fulfilled and adding another goal should rangers choose to work for if they like the skins, this is much the same as working for a weapon skin on any other profession since the pet does add to the rangers appearance greatly.

Giant spiders of the world are just misunderstood creatures, they love to snuggle too.

There was pet progression in Guild Wars 1, and I hated it. Every time I tamed a new pet, I had to level it again.

It was annoying as hell.

They eventually added the Zaishen Menagerie, something I really liked in Guild Wars 1, that allowed you to store pets in an island set up just for your pets.

You could then go in on any character and take out the pet at the level it was stored.

But you still had to level each pet separately.

Other types of progression might work, but I’d hate to have to level every pet I might want you use at some point.

I woulds go for Ranger pet skins- maybe then I can get an actual crow for my Crowgirl.

I am not sure how I feel about leveling pets but I am all for some kind of quest that sends you off to the wilds to find an egg or rare beastie

They can just be skins for current pets we have too- no need to make new pets

Add in how there really wasn’t incredible difference in pets other than looks? (Some did slashing, some piercing, whatever . . . it was still of questionable utility.) There wasn’t a reason to level pets.

Doesn’t mean I didn’t make a build specifically to level pets as Dire off wurms outside Boreal Station. And do lockpick runs in the meantime.

I’d like to level “families” of pets, I guess? Like “canines, moas, spiders, devourers, avians, bears, etc” each get their own progression.

Step one is to give them AI which isn’t bone-stupid. Otherwise we’re not going to get much use out of them anyway.

All I know is all these pets pale in comparison to the feared Black Moa, fiercest giant chicken to stalk Cantha. One of the greatest rangers of Cantha was able to tame it, even after losing an eye to one.

And it was also feared in Istan, to such a degree I regularly trolled people outside the Sunspear Great Hall with it. Because it was hilarious.

Lol, yeah I remember.

I used to train them outside Icetooth cave way before the release of EotN, You could get them aggressive fast enough there and then complete the training in the desert mission with all the minotaurs.

Dire pets dealt around 30% more damage then Hearty pets, I think, quite worth the effort. They also had lower health which helped a bit in getting aggro on them.

I tended to use Hearty only because I got tired of people ragging on me for being “yet another ranger with a dead pet”.

It would be nice with different skins for pet that are rare, exotic, legendary. For both Ranger, Necromancer and Guardian.

Pet’s are usually the last to die, and in H&H groups you’d rarely die anyway. But yeah, arrogant pug healers tend to ignore pets, but then a ‘heel’ once in a while would be enough to loose aggro and avoid damage.

Oh I was okay with them ignoring the pets because I handled that myself (Comfort Animal). I also at some times “pet pulled” which was sending my pet at a patrol, letting it get stomped . . . watching them reset and resurrecting the pet using Comfort Animal to tug only a few of the patrol off . . . then attacking it.

Also, for laughs one time? Great Dwarf Weapon on the pet as it was (trying to) tank Dhuum. It was not really laughworthy because it worked pretty well.

The feared black moa? AH what about the rainbow pheonix wich took several months of achievement or pvp to aquire or the Black pheonix wich required you to defeat shiro tagashi in Faction. Both pet held prestige. Jingle bear was also very prized and so was the jingle moa.

I personnaly used the rainbow pheonix or the jingle bear depending on my mood. Always dire and always with 16 in beast mastery and a full pet spell bar. My rainbow pheonix will always haunt the nightmares of the players who fell victim to its 7 degen 160 damage per strike combo or got bodyblocked by its very large wings.

We need raptor pheonix and Griffons to be tamable pets again and id definitively pay to unlock one in my housing or my hall of monument where it used to tread T_T.

GW2 should definetely get Pet Progression as also again a Pet Menagerie.

Pets should grow bigger and should have several Development Tiers:

- Juvenile
- Adult
- Sublime

Pets should receive customization options, like Armors or fitting Accessoires

Pet Stats shouldn’t be fixated on the Pet Type. Stats of the Pets should become changeable to allow for better build fitting pets and more Pet Freedom in regard of which Pet you want to take with you because you like its LOOKS and not, because it has the Stats/Function that you need for your build!!

More Pet Skills, each Pet should have exchangeable Pet Skill Sets… so that not every pet fights the same way…. making pets more unpredictable.

The rarity of Pets with adding more different “Pet Skins” is also a great suggestion.
Fur, Feather, peak, claw options and the like for “Pet Evolution” in the Pet Menagerie where you could customize all of the Pet Details, like how you decide the details of your own Character while you create one with the Character Editor..

Pet progression has really alot of potential to improve the Pet/Summon Feature for all of the Classes, that have pets or can summon creatures, like Undeads, Spiritual Weapons, Elementals ect.

These things should become customizable and should progress with the character.
If I’d could I’d really love to change especialyl the Looks of my summoned Undeads and Elementals or the looks of the Nature Spirits, which are no Nature Spirits at all for me by their looks.

If I could have an option to change their looks, I’d change the skins of the Nature Spirit for example to something that looks alot more like Sylphids, Dryads, Nereids and Oreads – the real classical forms of well known Nature Spirits known by mythologies of the real world.

The Elementals would I changec into more demonic looking elemetal creatures.

The Fire Elemental for example into a Flame Lion
The Earth Elemental for example into a Sand Viper
The Air Elemental for example into a Storm Falcon
The Water Elemental for example into a Frost Wolf

Stuff like that do I like alot more, than the current Elementals that look just like boring copies of some enemies in the game and not like some unique summons.

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside
