So I have noticed that ever rare I have got on my latest char since it’s first rare drop is based on the area level and not char level. I am level 76 and currently mapping blaze ridge steppes and I got 2 rare drops, both level 46 weapons.

This was same for the other rares I have had, not one of them was the level or even close to the level of my char.

I read through the notes for feature pack and I’m very sure I did not read anything about this. I know world bosses are char level specific, but why on earth are they not anymore for normal exploring?

This means less lvl 80 rares available so will only make the price of level 80 rares on the TP rise.

Kinda makes me think anet did this solely for that purpose, because as we all know, if you can’t afford stuff as it costs too much silver or gold and you don’t have enough, please come buy some gems to convert to gold……

They’ve never all been character level. There’s always been a chance to get at level drops and a chance to get zone level drops…that’s been in the game since launch.

A long time ago, they changed the odds for zones 55th level and higher, so you’re more likely to get at level drops in those zones.

I did not know that. Though I’m pretty sure my lvl 80 got a lvl 80 rare doing daily kills in QD. But thank you for providing me that info, much appreciated :-)

Yes your level 80 could always get rare drops in Queensdale. In fact, every single rare in Queensdale you get is automatically going to be at level, since there are no level 15 rares. But other drops you got, say blues, would be either at level or at the zone’s level.
