Hello!

So like the title said, this topic is about razer nostromo. I know there are topics out there, but they don’t answer my question, since they all had some gaming mouse.

I wonder if there is anyone who uses only razer nostromo without gaming mouse. If so i he could write down his nostromo key bindings =D

Thank you =)

I do, as well as a razer naga.

I use mostly default keybinds.

Tab (button 1 by default) is select target which I think is also default for the game.

Q (button 2 by default) is to swap weapon groups.

WASD as default movement and on the game pad are shown to have ^, <, v, and >. they are buttons 3, 7, 8, and 9 respectively.

E is 180 turn and R is toggle between walk/run which is nice since despite run speed boosts, everyone walks at the same speed including event npc’s. So you can walk with them in between encounters.

F is all set to default (both ingame and game pad).

I also bound the city clothes toggle to one of the bottom keys (either C or V) and I have something else bound as well so I make use of both. I can’t remember off hand what that other action is.

Z and X I don’t use simply because it feels odd to try and use them. I also don’t use caps lock.

I use numbers 1 through 0 on the mouse for skills/utilities and changed F# to Shift + #. The shift key by default on the game pad is right under my little (pinky) finger (button 11).

Map is the button above the D-pad and jump is the button under my thumb (below the D-pad).

The d-pad is set up for macros. We are allowed to have macros as long as it is one action per macro.

I set up the arrow keys on the keyboard for movement as well and have alt as dodge. I’d have to be home to check what the macro code is but basically I have the d-pad set up to cause me to dodge roll in the direction of my choosing.

I can be strafing right, dodge roll back to the left and then continue on strafing to the right without ever taking my finger off button 9.

What allows this is that if you strafe right and, without lifting your finger off the button, press the button to strafe the other way, you character will begin to strafe the other way. Once you lift your finger to stop strafing that other way, your character will then go back to strafing to the right.

However, by using two adjacent movement keys, you actually have 8 directions of movement. So if I’m moving forward and dodge right, I’ll actually dodge on an angle since the movement to the right doesn’t negate the forward movement.

It is then possible to actually setup a dodge macros for all 8 directions.

I’d say the power of a gamepad which I think everybody should use…is being able to apply things you’re used to from one game to the next.

I recommend trying the thumbstick for movement though, especially if your mind is not locked in to WASD movement you’ll find it almost life-changing just to be able to point in any direction and go….

I have my Nostromo keys bound from 1 – 0 which I use for my abilities and utilities. The D-Pad I have bound for movement. I also have a key bound for dodge and one to switch weapons.

I also play with a Naga in my right hand, where I have F1-F4, jump and Tab bound.

I basically only use the keyboard to type messages in chat.

Well thanks for those two answers =D i was just interested to see what others use. Keep going so i can see how others use it.

I am really used to wsad. But i will make Dpad movement anyway. I want to use that function =)

@arran.7102 → yeah but here’s the problem. i dont have a naga to point my F1-4. So i lack a few buttons =P

One tip that you might find useful is that I actually bind my sideways movements on the D-Pad to strafe. It works better for me in conjunction with the mouse.

I use to use a nostromo until I tried out the G13 from Logitech. I feel it is superior in every single way.

With that out of the way! I have to agree with others that suggest using the joystick for movement. At least on my G13 (cant remember for the nostromo), I have the typical move buttons mapped to the joystick itself. Really, really fantastic for my playstyle.

I have also found that I change the setup even just on different builds within the same class. I constantly mess with it until I find something that feels “natural.” For gamepads in general, I think this is a good way to approach it. The only thing that I dont change are movement input (joystick) and things like shortcuts to the map, character, inventory, etc.

I also use a g500, so that changes it a bit. But, it wouldnt be hard at all to just bind things to a gamepad instead.

The biggest drawback, imo, is that you have to take your hands off of it to type into chat. That pretty much means stop everything you are doing. For me at least, this generally leads to me being rather quiet in game. Not a big deal, but its there.

I posted a picture of my binds on a third party forum back during beta. If I remeber to tonight I will find that image and post it here.

From memory I thin I have this:

The little button above the joystick to f.
The large buttom under the joystick to tab.
The joystick unmodded so I can move all dirs.

The keypad:

T456’
?123D
S789?

All my control 1-4 skills are also bound to shift 1-4.
Calling targets also bound to shift-t

S up there is shift. D is dodge. T is target called target.
’ is weapon swap. Shift-’ is weapon sheath/unsheath.
The ? Is something I forget.

My mouse is the steelseries special gw2 mouse.

My keyboard sits idle but for chat and searching the trading post.
