I’ve always played my warrior, and he’s full ascended and I even managed to get a sunrise, but as time has gone on and on, I’ve become extremely bored with warrior, mainly because I find their abilities are painfully bland, maybe this is just me. But recently I’ve been constantly debating re-rolling with a new character, maybe an engi? I’m just attracted to the cool flashy classes. So, basically, my question is, do you guys think it’s worth all the effort? I know that ascended armor and weapons is no big deal to get, but it’s the other things that bother me, trying to get world completion on another character….getting all the skill points to get all the traits. I’m just really torn because I feel like I might want to do it, but I’m also becoming more and more of a casual player as time goes on. It might also be because I’m just not that great of a warrior, which is also a possibility, don’t let my gear confuse you, my gear just took time, not skill, and I’ve always played GS/Hammer, which I guess could be a reason why I see it as being so bland. I Just wanted to see if you guys had any advice.

As someone with two main characters, 10 alts, and a second account with three other alts (so far), I say just make a new alt. No need to delete the warrior or anything. Make a new character, play with it until you decide it’s not fun anymore or you need a break from it.

You could also always try out other weapons on your warrior, as well.

Lots of people have one of each class. Imo, it’s well worth it. Each class plays differently and can look different, allowing you to try out different play styles and armors so it doesn’t get stale. Many people don’t have a main but switch between their alts, depending on which they want to play that day or what they are doing.

I have one of each at level 80 and switch between them, depending on which feels like fun that day.

Be careful what you ask for

It’s really not bad, honestly. The only thing I miss between new alts and my Ranger/Guard is the map completion. Exotic gear is easy to get and basically just as good as Ascended and map completion (if you just go for the WPs) is honestly pretty quick as well. It’s definitely worth making another character.

Is it worthwhile? I think so. In my opinion, if you haven’t at least tried other classes, you’re missing out on many aspects the game has to offer. Learning each class gives you insights on how to counter or how to combo with others. It can add depth to your game.

You don’t have to get world completion on every character, either. Heck, you can get almost all your traits and skills under the upcoming new system by leveling to 80 and grabbing the skillpoints in the starter zones. The new system will be dropping before HoT, too.

Try a new character! Engi is fairly complex with each utility kit giving you an entirely new set of weapon skills to play with. Maybe it will keep your attention longer? It’s certainly more diverse in its effects.

Egad, don’t delete. Make something new to try, you can work on it in between using your warrior for stuff. Also at some point we’re going to get word on what the Warrior elite spec will be and you might find that reinvigorates your interest. Plus even the base game play will be changing up once the new trait/skill system goes live, probably in the next two months or so (my personal guess based on its current state, the need for beta testing, the fact that it’s coming before HoT, and my personal opinion that HoT most likely arrives in late August).

Most people don’t have all their level 80s at map 100%. A fair number only have one char with that. What I would do with a new level 80 is run them to the meta bosses waypoints and the dungeon waypoints and get one waypoint for each map. Later I might run the char through maps to get a good number of waypoints, particularly ones near guild missions. That’s all you really need to play effectively.

That’s true. I have 2 80’s at 100% completion, 12 80’s at less than 50%, and 1 42. Even my recent running around to get skill challenges done on alts (with corollary WP and PoI gathering on the way) hasn’t gotten anyone above 50%.

Anyway, all the professions have something fun about them. You don’t have to sink vast resources into an alt to get it in a useful playable position. Your warrior can be your main and any alts be pleasant diversions with the potential to develop into fully geared mains themselves if you discover you really like their gameplay.

No, not worth it under these conditions. You’ll just get burned out or lose interest again once you are done.

What would be worth it you trying out some of the other classes and messing around a bit and see if you have fun. Guardian would be a natural pick since if you really wanted to switch you could just transfer the gear (and no, guardians are not similar to warriors).

Giving some of the medium or light armor classes a go would be a big switch. Don’t go all gung-ho “I’m rerolling my main” into it. Make a twink, try him out, move back to your warrior when fatigue sets in and remember that HoT is comming up shacking everything up quite a bit.

I don’t get this rerolling. Rerolling means you’re going to delete your current character and make a new character that will replace it. In older games this occurred when you allocated stats poorly, or chose the wrong ability, and usually only early on. In GW2 it’s basically only worthwhile if you want a different race. Even if you want a different appearance that can be changed without rerolling. If you want a different stat allocation, or different build those can also be changed without rerolling.

It sounds to me like you want to try a different class. Well, you have five slots, so do that. Make an alt and move on, because why wouldn’t you?

Option 2: Just wait until HoT and try out the Warrior Elite, whatever that ends up being.

I have 9 mains and 6 alts but It’s just a matter of opinion I guess, 9 characters with 100% map. 2 alts still need steps in PS, lowest map completion is 44% lowest armor type is exotic (unless talking about aquabreathers.)

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

re-roll? That means delete… I don’t see the point in that while having multiple slots on the account. The obvious choice for an alt to warrior would be guard, then share the ascended equipment between them. Guard takes a little more thought to play compared to warrior, so should be a good change. I have all classes, but I play thief, and engi as my choice for something different now and then. If anet had left gw2 more alt friendly, I’d probably still be playing most classes, but it is what it is now. Just dump your gear onto a fresh guard, show them newbies what end-game gear can do hehe

Yes try another class.

I originally rolled a human warrior and played through story mode. Once I was finished I was pretty bored with warrior like you are.

I then rolled a ranger and it was like a totally new game to me. The weapons felt so different and it had a completely different play style.

Then recently I decided to roll a norn warrior, purely for aesthetic reasons. This time round I am actually enjoying it a whole lot more, probably because I have since learned how to play better. Warrior is now my pve main, while I still use ranger for PvP.

So yes give another class a go.

Trying to new class is refreshing and can be a lot of fun. It can also make you miss your older characters making them interesting to you again. I have 2000 hours on Guardian, and another 400 or so between my Necro and Ranger. These are my favorite 3 classes to play. I’m trying to learn Ele, and I have a Thief who I could never really get into. Thief was my second character I ever rolled, and it just wasn’t for me. If you don’t like the class you rolled, move on to another one. Utilize all your character slots. If anything you’ll have enough characters to master all the crafts.
