I played Guild Wars one, buying every expansion except eye of the north. Back then i was more focused on playing instead of being interested in the lore behind it all. Waited all this time for Guild Wars 2. I was PUMPED to play to say the least. Played through the open beta weekends, and then i pre purchased and played the 3 days of pre release. No MMO launches completely smooth, and i dont believe this is an MMO that should be compared to the others in most aspects. There were some bugs the first couple days, big ones were skill points and tasks not being recognized.. No big deal, just wait for a fix. The game was BEAUTIFUL, character creation was amazingly customized, and the classes/game set up was something no other MMO had. This game was truly something unheard of.
I played wow once i got bored with Guild Wars 1 and would often travel between the two. A lot of people believe that Guild Wars 2 is bad because its not just like wow, i strongly disagree. However, i have a lot of issues with this game that im sure a lot of other people feel the same way about.
1. There is no direct ticket to GM help.
2. Trading Posts are server wide and overflows are some what server wide, yet there is no dungeon finder?
3. GM’s dont seem to care what the player population has to say.
And heres my big issue… No End Game TACTICS. The fact that there is no end game doesnt bother me at all.. I dont mind running around this beautiful environment doing tasks, gathering resources, and exploring areas. I like working towards cosmetic items to make my character look awesome! Also, i like that the server wide trading post has caused the prices of things to be easily affordable for all players. I LOVE not having to spend hours every night sitting in a raid group working on the same boss over and over again, only to do the same thing for the next 4 nights until the reset! But WHY is it that the patches are so focused on making it impossible to farm, instead of fixing issues with the actual game? You guys had plenty of time to figure out that the super HXC Hardcore players were going to farm certain things to death reguardless! Especially dungeons!
Instead of fixing bugged skill points, terrain errors, massive interface problems and content issues… the focus is on preventing players from doing dungeons. Now that being said, it isnt as bad as it seems. Yes, some skill points, tasks, terrain issues, interface problems, and story line quest issues are being fixed.. and i know its a long process to fix those. And dont get me wrong here, i think the new dungeon system is great. Enter a dungeon, go through content, die a lot, lose more money than you make, get rewards at the end for your hard work(Tokens). Thats how it should be, its the only end game we have! It needs to be hard, but still remain some what pug-able. (Currently seems pug-able for most dungeons). But why is it that when you guys PATCH this stuff up.. you break more than you fix? I got cheated out of the 60 tokens from dungeon runs TWICE, because i got 15 at the end instead of the 20 for the dungeon complete, and the 40 for it being the first run of the day on that path. That made me mad, but i went to try a different path and the last boss was so broke it was impossible to do (CoF First path with the crystals) And theres a post on the dungeon forums where a dev AGREE’s that a lot needs fixed with that boss. Nearing a month after public release and the game is still more than 50% broke and unbalanced.
Not trying to complain completely because i do love the game… but get your priorities straight… When you patch things… patch them… and according to google to patch means “Mend or strengthen (fabric or an item of clothing) by putting a piece of material over a hole or weak point in it”. I didnt read anything about breaking more parts of the object in the process.
