So I log in today and my main is naked, his weapons and armor and any rares are all gone. My money,mats etc are untouched.

At first I thought i was hacked so I ramped up the old Avast antivirus and run a full system scan. Nadda not even one whiff of a trojan,malware,etc nothing.

Then I went to my bank and the stuff from my other toons is still there, money,mats and all.

So let me get this straight, you Arenanet, stripped my main of all his gear, alot of it I got by buying gems FROM YOU,then did a currency exchange WITH YOU to turn the gems into gold to outfit my toon. I used YOUR system the way YOU set it up and you strip me of my stuff for playing by YOU RULES.

I mean seriously WTF is wrong with you guys, I didnt farm that stuff in dungeons,I dont run them so I sure as heck didnt look like a bot.
I dont farm pvp all day either so again, not looking like a bot!

Fix it!

And when you contacted support, what did they say exactly that made you rage on the forums.

It wasn’t Anet, you got hacked.

AN wouldn’t have removed your characters clothes as a punishment, you’d have just been straight up banned.

You got hacked, keep your account information confidential.

Doesn’t mean you weren’t hacked. You should change your password and wait for a response. I doubt Anet took your toys and outfits, sounds more like you were phished or you have some friends who aren’t very nice.

I dont share this comp with anyone, nobody else is here, I live alone so the only way an outside source would be able to do it would be to use malware and as I’ve said repeatedly, my comp is clean.

I do hope you have changed your password for the game and your email. It certainly sounds like your account has been compromised. If so, Customer Support can do an Account Restoration, and roll back the account to a timestamp before said compromise.

Malware is not the only thing that can take your info.. You can get keyloggers on websites, you can get phished on websites by logging in or using your info other places. No one in this forum (which is the wrong forum btw) can help you. Only Anet can through a support ticket. After no response you can then after 3 days post on support forums for help. But saying Anet stole your goodies sounds unlikely to be what really happened. Either way you should change your password, possibly for your email as well. Or not, up to you.

Maybe they weren’t done yet.

Then one of your friends got hold of your password and pranked you. The one thing that is certain is that Anet did not do this. They don’t play games with people’s accounts, if you broke the rules you’d be suspended or banned, not punk’d.

Your comp can be clean as hell, your surfing habits may not be. Have you used the same password on a gaming site or gaming forum? That is by far the easiest target for people looking to gain access to your account. Hacking a MySQL DB from an outdated server you are looking at is a common and old way of getting account info.

Avast not finding anything doesn’t mean AreneNet took your stuff.

My guess is you ether got hacked buy someone who didn’t want to cause any real damage or someone who knows your password wanted to be funny and put your equipment into your bank. Eitherway you should change your password and contact support to get your account restored.

It may have just happened recently, if a hacker is working on several stolen accounts he might not have time to grab everything and planned to get the banked stuff later. No one can say for sure but if what you are describing is true then Anet has nothing to do with it.

This happened to my GM’s girlfriends toon and Anet did a small rollback which didn’t help and she lost her precursor. I think this might be a bug and not a hack since they told her the account wasn’t hacked.

This could be a possibility, I heard people talkin about this type of thing in game,everyone generally thinks it is Arenanets doing, either by a bug or by seeing real money transactions and thinking it’s an expoit and stripping the gear.

I am not alone in this,they may not be here ranting,but it IS happening.

I think if someone lost their gear they’d report it unless they attained it by illegitimate means

I have no idea what it is but they didn’t return the items and then ignored her after the small rollback. She stopped playing after that so I have no idea what happened since.

I don’t think it is and like I said this is only the second time I’ve heard about it. I don’t consider it game breaking but it would kitten me off.

During an early wave of bot bans a handful of accounts were caught by mistake, it takes a few days to sort the real appeals from the botters hoping to slip back in… but the explosion of angry posts in the Support forum and elsewhere made it look like Anet was performing brain surgery with a chainsaw. If more than a dozen people were to be affected by something like this, the kittenstorm on the forums would make you think that thousands were affected.

“My GM’s girlfriend” is twice removed from an eyewitness account, so yeah it is. I’m skeptical about hearsay, don’t know why you would interpret this as an insult but whatever, it doesn’t bother me at all.

Unless you arena Anet employee you have no idea how Anet manages the game. I know I’m not an employee so I have no idea but maybe you work for them and have knowledge we don’t have? If you do please find out for us :-)

FIX IT

I’m not going to bother making any accusations, in fact I answered to try to bring some sense to what is obviously a very emotional issue. The most obvious explanation is that someone hacked your account. This can happen no matter what precautions you take against it, and throwing a fit about it won’t help.

It’s unlikely that a bug would strip ALL of your equipment from a single toon. It’s not impossible, but I have a hard time imagining this happen. It is absolutely certain, however, that Anet is not going to open themselves up to a class action lawsuit by committing fraud or otherwise messing with some random user’s account.

You’ve submitted a ticket, it’s Sunday evening at the Anet office, you probably won’t see a response until tomorrow morning at the earliest. Go do something else for a while and check back later because typing “fix it!” over and over isn’t going to make them do anything.

Ya it really sucks, I’m off work for 6 weeks due to a surgery I had on monday so i cant do much so I figured I’d play the game until I recover enough to be out and about.

Really dont want to reinstall Wow but im not spending one more minute on this game if they wont fix this.

It wouldn’t be the first time ANet let their anti-farming/bottling efforts affect innocent people. In fact, it is quite common. Good luck getting your gear back.

Just because Avast didn’t find anything doesn’t mean there isn’t something there. That holds true for most antivirus. None of them are 100%, just saying. Hope you get your gear back.

I suggest you grow up, wait for a response from Anet, and deal with it in a mature manner rather than run to a game forum and post unfounded accusations and try to convince everybody you have the cleanest computer on the internet.

I have every right to answer anyone who is acting in a way I find insulting.
The person in my post was acting in a way that drew my response.
