Is there a reason why every single elite in this game (all classes) takes five weeks to recharge? Its an elite, you’re supposed to us it more than three times per dungeon!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why did gw1 has tones of powerful elite spells that took >10-15sec to CD and in gw2 it seems like its 1000% longer? Im not asking for a spell such as time warp to be a 30sec recharge but i do want fast recharging elite skills that aren’t useless bs like melandru/grenth avatars and by fast recharging im talking about 25sec or under, not 100sec.

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

They tried to blanket-balance the skills for many game modes. They are slowly finding out that it isn’t working out and is contributing to an even less balanced meta. (Noted by the Guardian utility split skill implementation).

Racial Elites were made horrible on purpose.

Don’t bother with them.

I can do thirty Five-Dolyak Arm Curls.

Do you even lift, bro?

I once suggested that the elite slot should be usable for normal skills. People were against it because they felt a normal utility skill in that slot would be “too powerful”.

That just about says it all I guess.

It’s a game forum. The truth is not to be found here.

Yes it’s ridiculous. Especially if you’re soloing. The majority of elites aren’t even that useful, I never find myself needing them, even in intense situations…

It’s just another kick in the balls for the lack of skills this game offered compared to GW1.

Still waiting for the things I love about GW1.

Because the only thing keeping you from spamming them are the large cooldowns. And several of these skills are pretty darn powerful, capable of flipping the tide of battle if you use them correctly. If they were spam-able, they’d be downright broken.

And you may notice that most of GW1’s major balance issues tended to revolve around spam-able elite skills. This is, strangely enough, not a mere coincidence.

I’d honestly rather have them rare and powerful, than to have them frequent and weak.

I’d be fine with shorter cooldowns. But spam-able? Hell no.

Remember when our developers talked about “strengthening the core game”?
How’d that work out for us so far?
Now let’s try some ideas that will really work.

I’d rather have them buffed to make them worth that cooldown, myself.

I don’t disagree there’s a lack of selection (it’s kinda why I’m surprised there are so few elites), but I’d rather see the skills buffed to make them worth my time using than to cut their cooldowns, because honestly….if they’re more spam-able but still weak, I’m still not gonna bother.

Huh? It would appear that people want a “press this button and WIN” elite which isnt going to happen. Every class can have a decently strong elite. Examples

The supply crate on my eng is amazing. A 2 second stun and the ability to heal with the bandages it gives along with some turrets to boot. On my warrior. The signet gives 30 seconds of might fury and swiftness. I hit like a truck.

Also there are elite skills that have short cd. The theif has a very short cd elite that stuns people for a short time. I believe its 45 seconds.

I miss the builds in GW1 where you would incorporate your entire build around that one elite, and the elite cd variety ranged from short to long. It was fun naming your builds around that specific elite

What would be interesting for the future, would be to expand on the skills that each weapon give, ultimately allowing you to unlock more weapon skills with the same weapon, so you would have to make choices about which skills to put on the weapons section skill bar. Eventually, it would be pretty sweet to introduce elite weapon skills(ways of acquisition can be debated), and then expand outwards, to elite healing skills, and elite utility skills. —Keeping of course, the 1 max limit on elite skills, so you would really have to choose between all these elites.

I think it would give much more variety than the current elites that the professions have, and greatly diversify the possible builds to more than just traits/armor/etc…

I also agree that the cd of these elite skills can be played around with, to have a larger variety – obviously doing any tweaking as needed to maintain balance.

So MUCH this.

Although I´m not seeing anywhere that they are slowly finding out anything.

The Firefall Devs for example noticed this same problem right now in closed beta and are rectifying it by splitting PvE from PvP gear.

Frankly they should just make the Elite optional, another utility skill would be immensely more useful in PvE.

Yea lets give daggerstorm a 30 second cooldown. Let’s lower the cooldown on thieves guild so the 2 thieves it summons are up constantly.

Yet GW1 still balanced than GW2 lol, plus we had hundreds of skills to play with. And I don’t think spammable means what you think it means. GW2 autoattack would be an example of spamming.

Agree on the cool downs.

I wish we could set up 2 templates, one for WvW and one for PvE and could switch between them without re-configuring everything.

That would be great.
