Rebuild Lion's Arch - voting?
I dont want it rebuilded at all.I want it dead as it is now. This LS starting to feel really disappointing.Nothing in this game seems permanent and nothing changes at all.

Weird just responded to a similar comment. Why wouldn’t they rebuild the city? What major hub city would not rebuild after being destroyed by war or nature.
It wouldn’t make a lick of sense not to rebuild it. It would be immersion breaking honestly. City gets destroyed, you rebuild city. That’s normal…
Why did we even waste the time fighting off the enemy if we were going to just abandon it and leave it a wasteland?
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
We will be rebuilding Lion’s Arch starting with this new release.

City is been rebuild for months not in 1 week event…
It would be kind of cool to build Lion’s Arch using the remains of the Breachmaker or w/e Scarlet’s drill was called.

I suggested this several months ago, but I would like to have voting involved in the rebuilding of LA.
It’s not a question of “should they or should they not”
but more of a question of voting on how we want the new LA to look.
For example, we could be given artist renderings/concept art of how these new districts will look. For example, we may be given two choices on how we want the crafting district, the BLTC and the bank to look. We may also be given choices on the type of activities we would want to have in LA – moa races or polymock?
You can inject lore into this by inviting all the esteemed architectural guilds, competing against one another for funds, politically backed by our beloved Evon Gnashblade or the hated Ellen Kiel.
I don’t want to see the city rebuilt overnight, of course, because that would cheapen its destruction, but I do want to see it rebuilt. I like Lion’s Arch. It’s an important city in game lore and the community. It’ll take time, and it won’t be the same, but it needs to be rebuilt.
I don’t expect any voting for this year’s Festival, though; what is there to vote on, really? Which parts of the city get rebuilt first?
That might be interesting in concept, but you’d get the trade district, then the gate plaza(s), because those things have practical use. Then there wouldn’t be enough interest to have a really fun time deciding whether the Moa Races or Fort Marriner gets rebuilt first; unlike a character election, it’s not really enough to build a cause around.
Meanwhile, people would continue to use the Vigil Keep services, or else have to split between them and LA, which is a nuisance. That might happen as the city gets rebuilt, and I don’t terribly mind that, but it’s hardly exciting enough to build a Living Story feature around.
Edit: Vol might be onto something, by having it as an out-of-game or semi-out-of-game thing voting on concept art for things like new statues or buildings. That’s a good way to connect with a community, and can be done in a way that isn’t disruptive or boring. (Example: Sketches go up and people vote. Winner is selected, and the finished product naturally takes time to be created by artists, which translates into game-time construction.)

Bring it back. Give me a place where I can craft AND hit fractal portals at the same time. I’m not counting the stupid airship.

I want to rebuild the ark!
I’m voting that they will be accepting donations of crafting materials (wood, ore, etc.) to do the rebuild. Hopefully it will be T1 materials (that are completely lacking any reason to exist beyond getting past the T1 crafting requirements).
Just my speculation.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
If we’re doing any voting.
I’m not going to vote at all and then save all the unused voting tokens to make a small mint post patch.
I think shopkeepers should ask for donations to rebuild or build whole new stores. If they get as certain amount of gold (1,000-10,000) they’ll start work and finish clearing rubble and building their store between 6 and 12 weeks.
i want to see it getting rebuold and become a much more beutiful town, than it was before it got destroyed, less of a maze of ships and become more like a kind of new fortress town, that won’t be so easily destroyable.
Lions Arch 2.0 should look alot more imposing and and powerful – majestic, like a big Port/ Trade Town full of live, because its basically the center of Tyria.
However, the rebuild lA shpould not become again the mechanical and gameplay related center of the game. Never ever again, because that totally abandonded all other towns and lead basically, to the point, that all other towns, other thancLA became quickly ghost towns …
In in general has to rework all of the Towns…. all towns in the game currently are more or less absolutely boring, because except for exploration with your characters one time per chara to 100% map of the town, you have absolutely NOTHING to do in the towns.
theres absolutely nothing in the towns, that draws for a player’s attention and brigns them to the point, that people actually WANT to visit all of the towns on a regular basis.
To do somethign in them, what you can do only in those towns.
Anet has finally to implement alot of all the missing Minigames for example, like Polymok or Archery or a Minipet Arena and Moa Racing, your read ..RACING.. not betting on races >.>
They need to remove that silly NPC, that allows players to play all minigames in a cycle.
Players should be able to play all of the minigames, whatever they want, whenever they want, but they should need to visit the fitting towns for them.
So if you want to play polymok, there you need to go to rata Sum for it.
if you want to play Keg Brawl.. then move your digital a** to Hoelbrak and so on …
Then after that ,Anet has to implement for all towns also dynamic Events on a regular basis, as like Anet should start to add for all othe maps outside of towns also on a regular basis new dynamic events to make the chances for all of the old known dynamic events smaller to occur, so that those old and borign DEs that we have made so far a felt million times become slowly rarer.
Theres nothign dynamic in a world, when one and the same events repeat themself every 5 mins!! Dynamic is, when something really out of a sudden happens, that felt totally unexpecting for the player and when the player didn’t had to do something extra special first as a kind of hidden preparation so that that this event could start at all. Anet has still alot to learn about how they should and could significantly improve their dynamic event system, because currently it feels hardly very dynamic.
The current DE system is basically nothing else, than just ever repeating same strings of thigns that can happen at fixated points of the maps.
It stats already thare, that the events are fixed in their location, that you can say thet the system isn#t really dynamic, because a real dynamic system would lets its events randomly happen basically at any given time anywhere on the map and not just only on fix spots….
Not wanting to complain here, but I just want to show up, where anet still has alot of potential for improvements.
Hopefully also Anet won’t put back the fractal of the Mist Entrance back into the town.
If you read that Anet here…NOOOOO, don’t do that, put Fractals please never again into LA, or any other town
Since you put that dungeon entrance into the town, the login times for characters that start in the town basically quadruppled itself!!!
The LFG spam before the introduction of the LFG tool was also horrible., and even if the tool is there, some people still do it ….
You should have put that silly dugneon entrance from begin on intio the Southsun Cove Map, so that people that want to do the dungeon still have an intention to go to that map without a silly waypoint direct in near of it, so that people actually have to make their way through the map to reach the dungeon.
Yes, thats time consuming, but sometimes you just have to force people to do something passively, if you want that maps stay alive and will visited.
Otherwise new implemented maps like Southsun Cove will always stay wastelands, that rarely people play on, unless theres every x hours a world boss spwning for a tiny chance on soem good loot, like the Karka Queen.
Each new implemented Map should also receive Vistas, Skill Points and Renown Hearts with nice new interestign Karma Vendors
Hopefully we will see in future more things on what Anet is planning to revive better older maps and to make all maps more interesting to keep on visiting them constantly.
Including towns naturally like a rebuild L.A 2.0
The voting for Kiel vs Evon didn’t affect the Living story at all, beyond some NPC chats, and did not affect the game beyond the fractal choice (which is not part of open world). I would not expect any “choice” we’d be given to have more consequence in the future.
Hopefully it will be T1 materials (that are completely lacking any reason to exist beyond getting past the T1 crafting requirements).
Or silk.
