The change to account bound recipes is appreciated and long overdue. However, it renders recipe drops far less desirable, particularly those drops with few choices like the Minstrel Jewelry Recipe Book. These drops are common enough that they become worthless rapidly, as no one needs them anymore for alts and they are unsellable in the trading post. Please give recipe drops more options so that these common drops return to having some value.

Going from selling for 5 copper to 0 copper is not a drastic change in terms of absolute price.

I don’t know.

How many times are people going to max out crafting professions on multiple chars anyway? There’s not much benefit to it that I can see and it costs a lot to do that. And jewelry? Is that something that’s going to be maxed more than once for most accounts? I have a feeIing that what you’re describing is something that affected only a small percent of the player base.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I have a storage bank full of recipes. You know why? Because they weren’t worth but a couple of copper on the Trading Post, anyway. Not sure why I ever kept them.

ArenaNet, thanks for making recipes account-wide. No need for any changes.

If anything, I’d like to see recipe books drop less frequently, especially the jewelry books, simply because they have a low resell value and limited use for duplicates.

I’m not sure exactly what the OP means by giving them more options, but I don’t think that would help them retain much value, and that’s not something I’m worried about.

Become worthless? Minstrel jewelry recipe sheets have been worthless since december 2015.

Common recipe drops don’t usually have much value…because they are common.

What does it means recipes are now account bound? Can I open a Minstrel Jewelry box with a toon that doesn’t have the jeweler craft and still gain the recipe for the one who does have it?

Yes.

It is also retroactive which means anything that was learned with a recipe sheet is now available on all characters as well. Just make you sure you log into each character at least once.

I just wish they would put them on vendors rather than as drops.

This freed up nearly an entire bank slot for recipes dropped on me for crafting disciplines I didn’t have on any character yet. So I really like this change.

I remember having to learn the legendary crafting recipes on two different characters and spending to get another set.

what they should do is tier the recipe drops based on quality, Common, Uncommon, Rare, Ultra Rare..ect. Account bound everything up to Rare and have your character auto learn it, and if the account has it the drop is ignored and removed. Then the Rare and Ultra rare drops should be tradable.

that would be ideal I would think. No more messy recipes (tired of the breathers from FoTM encryptions to be honest…)

Agreed. Though they already do so inconsistently, buying from map vendors.

You wish they were more expensive? O_o

If you got gold burning kitten in your pocket feel free to send the extras to me. :P

Sometimes it costs time to deal with them so even if they are free they aren’t truly free. I’d just rather pull what I want than have what I don’t want pushed at me. Excess items like that tends to feed people’s inner pack rat (pack skrit).

Map currency+karma both of which anyone that plays maps has a bunch of. They could just take bloodstone dust, airship oil or any of the various excess materials for them.

I am just comparing prices of recipe sheets on TP vs vendor.

In the majority of the cases the TP is cheaper. Vendors want 3g + map currency or laurels.

Maybe they could just be unlocked on map completion, event or achievement. They could do away with them as an item in your inventory all together.
