So…. I had this idea. We have this cool living story thing going on, Flame and Frost. It’ll slowly develop over the next 2 to 3 months. Wouldn’t it be cool, if this living story would be recorded from a players point of view?
By that I mean that I will basically write a story which tells of the experience of a Charr and a Norn as the flame and frost story unfolds in front of their eyes. But to do this, I’ll need your help guys.
Tell me:
what were your reactions when you saw the changes in terrain.
how did you feel about the strange events around the two zones.
how did your personal journey to Dissea/Wayfarer started.
how did you feel about the refugees? what did you think about them? what did you wanted to do?
what did you think about the different activities you did to assist the refugees.
what’s your point of view on this whole mystery.
What NPC’s in the game have you met that provided you with more info about the recent events? (Not including the heralds or the momento collectors, cause they always say the same thing.)

And some other questions, not as much story related.
what do you think the character names should be.
what do you think about this idea.
do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for all those who show support, or give me suggestions.

Here’s the preview/intro I came up with for this story:

“We’ve had hard times, these past few hundred years. About 200 years ago, dragons started rising. Primordus released the dangers of the underworld upon tyria, Jormag Claimed and destroyed the once beautiful shiverpeaks. Kralkatorrik left the brand in the war-torn Ascalon. Zhaitan made sure we would lose contact with Cantha and Elona, along with the mysterious deep sea dragon.
But thanks to the union of the five races, we killed Zhaitan, Stopped the Mad King, Destroyed the Karka, and helped make Tyria a safer place.
But now, there’s a new threat. No one’s sure what is it. Storms all over Dissea Plateau and Wayfarer Foothills. Strange earthquakes and volcanic activities beneath these northern lands. Refugees are struggling to reach safety in the Black Citadel and Hoelbrak, but one thing is certain. Something is coming. Something big, something dangerous. Do your part, by helping the refugees, and preparing for anything. Literally, anything. Good Luck.”
The herald finished his speech, and handed all the heroes in the crowd a letter. A message to get them ready for the upcoming events…

Hope you enjoyed, tell me what you think.

I’ve felt a number of single player RPG’s could have really enhanced themselves if there was a way to play back a recording of your game play afterwards at your request. Take out UI type things, use multiple camera angles etc.

I meant record it as a story, like people in Tyria would do.

What, like type it in and leave a diary for others to read / store to read later? That’d be pretty cool.

Yea kinda. But I want it to be a Charr and a Norn, probably from the norn’s point of view. But the the Norn is your everyday normal player, but for whatever reason he writes this, so in a hundred of years, the citizens of tyria will remember his adventure. Or maybe that’ll be us in one year. But yea you get what I mean.

It’d probably make a great RP tool if you had it from player-perspective, but NPC’s had stories you could use in your diary.

Something like:

I helped out again today, building temporary housing and gathering supplies for the refugee’s. During a break, I was talking to a Norn kid named Olafson, who told me…

Well yea but I also want the reactions of the players themselves. Knowing how real people who experienced it felt will help me make this more like a story/journal/diary. So if at least a few people can answer some of the questions, it’ll help me. But I think I’ll update my post and add another question.
What NPC’s in the game have you met that provided you with more info about the recent events? (Not including the heralds or the momento collectors, cause they always say the same thing.)

Well, a diary is a record of events, so if you done it with a player, you could also record that. I.E a player sees something really cool, tells you about it, and you include it in the days log.

If we could type our own, that’d be pretty cool.

Not gonna lie, I haven’t done it yet down to Guild runs and such XD I plan on doing it tonight though

I tried to find out in the wiki, but failed. What is the date in Guild Wars 2? are the months and days the same?
What year is it anyway? It would be cool if I’ll use the dates in Guild Wars 2 to make this more… Tyrian I guess?

And another note. This won’t be REALLY a diary. I mean instead of chapters I’ll have dates, and it’ll tell of what the player did, but it won’t be boring stuff and unneeded details which usually diaries have.
I plan on making every entry different than the previous one.

Well, I’m still looking for answers even though I already begun writing the diary myself.
