Rediscovery, GW2 amnesia :(
Yes I have, my amnesia must be worst than yours because I have leveled my main on the map and all my alts since also by 100% the map they are in.
My conclusion is that the world is just so vast that it feels new every time.
On my latest alt I don’t even look at the map, I just wander around chasing whatever catches my fancy- this is even cooler- very slow though.
If its Ur second time. Then ya. Half the time Im just looking at the map overlay to figure out where the next heart or vista’s at. The third time, u start to recognize it all
Usually I remember absolutely everything in a game. In other games my brother called me the wiki because I usually know every single drop and recipe I encountered. Not so in GW2 There’s so many puzzles and the solutions are too complex to remember them all. I do remember the most difficult ones though but what’s easy in this game used to be insanely hard in previous MMOs so the bar has been raised considerably =)

I think it’s a relatively good thing, so experiencing the maps again won’t be boring
My theory is that 90% of the people that have gotten 100% of map exploration just bumrushed vistas pois and hearts as fast as possible. This of course doesn’t leave many memories and usually completing a map this way means that you have just seen, at best, 50% of what the map has to offer. Many, many little details don’t contribute to map completion. For example, to anyone who completed Queensdale, did you know that:
- There’s a graveyard with epitaphs you can read
- Some epitaphs refer to NPCs whose death is mentioned by other ( living ) NPCs, i.e. the husband of Orchard heart NPC
- The gravekeeper is pretty nuts
- At night, the place gets spooky and a DE involving a ghost starts.
- There’s a place with a great view, as the kids playing there note
- Underneath this place a kid in a cave says that he doesn’t play with his friends anymore because he used to play Snaff’s part ( lol )
- There’s a jumping puzzle
- Inside the windmill, in a small room in the highest floor, a cat keeps rolling on a bed ( o .o )
- Two kids are coercing their father to jump in a lake to prove his courage
I could go on

There is also a place above the dam, with an old lady and some kids playing. there is a tree-like house that goes up and up and at the top is a chest that can’t be opened- I have always wondered if that is for an event I have never been able to start.
I think this might actually be the place with the great view you are talking about since the kids mention it.
The game is full of awesome things if you take your time and look.
I find new things on every character I play.
Yeah, it’s the place I was referring too. I’ve never gotten inside this tree-like house you mention :O Oh, the awesomeness of GW2 world details

I once logged in with my character looking over the flowing hills in Gendarran Fields. It was so beautiful, I kept watching for 10 minutes, took a screenshot and only then managed to move my character.

Don’t remind me, I fell for the old “help the lady home” … never ever trusting a lady in white ever again
