So I took another look at the cultural armor and I love it. Unfortunately, it’s too expensive in terms of gold. Why not reduce the gold cost, or better yet, make it a karma only reward? Hell there are enough gold sinks in the game already with legendary grind, crafting grind, ascended items, sigils, runes, etc. Why not let us use some of this worthless karma on something that’s nice for once. I have a gazillion karma with nothing worthwhile to spend it on.

This again? There have been players requesting this since launch, and it is futile. Multiple reasons aside, lets just set it out there that the T3 cultural is a rarity that is kept as such by the expense cost. But it also keeps its status as a well sought after set.

Oh, and you can convert Karma into gold via the chests at Balthazar Temple in Orr. Or you could also use Karma to purchase 4x of the T3 cultural weapons and then Mystic Forge them into exotic weapons you can sell. Both of these are options to get gold from Karma, having done both myself many times.

Completely agree with this. Farming is not my thing.

I bought like 8 t3 sets myself. It would be a low blow to have it easily obtained now when I grinded out for those skins. It’s very easy to get karma. Maybe one piece for 500,000 karma then I might be somewhat agreeable. But not that it matters this won’t happen anyway…,

Thanks for the tips on this. I had no idea that converting karma to gold was possible. But I still think there should be SOMETHING really nice that could be bought with karma.

There amount of gold required to purchase the armor really isn’t that much, easy to obtain with 1 or 2 days of work. I had 7 million karma at one point and converted it all to linen scraps (most profitable karma conversion atm).

That would be incorrect. I converted a bunch of karma into 4 stacks of linen just today.

If they make them cheaper I want the difference in gold back for the sets I bought. But really, they are not that expensive. I bought mine by using laurals to buy T6 mats then selling them.

Yeah! A months worth of Laurels would likely pay for a T3 set.

Well i’m a asura t3 armor away to have them all, only thing that bothered me while buying is the overpriced shoulders who have no animation. For that price they should come with animation. And charr light armor with no built in tail hole.

We need more gold sinks. Not less. Gold is already way abundant in this game, especially now that repair costs went out of the window. We need some way to drain it effectively, not make existent money sinks cheaper.

I’d prefer something more like upping the rarity or making the stats selectable (or both). I skipped them because the exotics on the TP, drops and crafted, are far cheaper and provide better stats. Right now the best thing you can do is vendor them back once you’ve bought them.

I can understand the desire to get a set of armour you want, but like people have pointed out, getting the T3 Cultural armour, isn’t too bad at all.

If all the items in the game were easy to obtain, you’d run out of things to aim for, so I think it’s important that there are gold sinks in the game. When you work to get something, you’ll feel that sense of satisfaction of getting it too, which is always nice.

What makes you so sure it is “too expensive?” The game’s economist doesn’t think so and he’s almost certainly the person you’d need to convince. You’ve persuaded me that they are too expensive for you at the present time; you haven’t made the case that they are too expensive for the game.

This makes the most sense in this entire thread. For that money I shouldn’t just get a few skins but worthwhile stats as well. As it is, I’ve never complained or thought about complaining about the costs. Not everything in this game should be easy to get. The only problem I have with gear acquisition in GW2 is with the RNG nature of the Fractal weapons set and precursor acquisition. But that last one will be fixed with the release of HoT (and hopefully something will be done about the Fractal weapons as well, i.e. being able to choose which of the weapons you get, like they mentioned they were planning on doing a long, long time ago already).

Other than that, I immediately sold the T3 sets I bought, which gives me back 15G, reducing the overall costs of the set. It softens the blow a bit.

Sure, maybe if you know the farming methods and exactly how to do them.

I personally, do not and thus don’t see myself making that much gold :P.

As somebody who owns almost every cultural set short of just about 5. No thanks. Unless anet wants to refund me tons of gold.

The tier 3 cultural should be exotic level 80 gear, not the crappy gear they currently are. I’d say keep the price, but raise the stats on them.

GW2 has been changing since release from a game in which the devs said “We don’t want players to grind” to a grind-filled game. Cultural armor is one of the many rewards for grinders, but it’s far from being the only one – heh, even entering beta access was a reward for grinding the Silverwastes, and as far as we know HoT will be basically a lot of grind (since it will be like Silverwastes, which is ArenaNet’s favourite map and yet is a very lazy design, with copy-paste events being repeated over and over with zero story until you get the only world boss in the game that gives full loot multiple times a day).

ArenaNet’s message is clear: if you are not a grinder, GW2 isn’t for you. So don’t expect them to lower the price of anything. At best, they will give you more places to grind in.

7 mill Karma all into linen scraps, that must have taken aloooong time?! That’s dedications!. I get too bored after 3 trips.

I am assuming all this gold comes from selling/ not salvaging the gear dropped from bags/chests, right? Because I salvage and store all the raw materials and don’t make that much in two days.

GW1’s FoW armor grind would have had you uninstalling and deleting the game if u think T3 cultural is a “grind”
