It was supposed to help make it so that your character could be more visible during huge zergs right? I don’t notice any difference at all. I took this screenshot a few days ago during one of the champions in the Scarlet event. Look at this. How can I possibly find my character or the enemy for that matter?

Am I the only one who actually like big clusters of skills with shiny effects and stuff?

Other than tagging enemies I dont mind it at all, in fact, if Anet could give an option tab enemy players only (no pets, summons , phatasms, except clones which are core to mesmers) in PvP and in PvE to tab first Champions followed by Veterans and then the ads then I would not have any issues.

The thing I care less in a big fight is how pretty I look.

Yea I hate it when games over do the particle effects and then don’t even give you an option to turn them down. MMOs are the worst for it :/

It kills fps and makes the game look like a mess. Even with a small group you can’t see which way an enemy is facing or what they are doing (or what your own is doing in melee), because all you can see is a big white blob.

I actually love all the effects when they go off in WvW. Two zergs clash in to each other, elementalists drop static in front of their zergs, mesmers drop feedbacks, damaged ground from warrior hammer stuns, fire fields, necro AOEs and in the middle of all that, players crashing in to each other.

The best bit is when you get that familiar with WvW that even though it looks like a mess to an onlooker, you know exactly what’s going on.

I noticed that as well and was wondering if it’s actually working.

Maybe that part of the culling only works in wvw? Maybe there weren’t enough people there to trigger the down graded particle effects?

Unless I missed it anet hasn’t said what specifically it takes to trigger that particular feature so it would be nice to know.

Yeah it totally makes Spvp tournaments so entertaining to watch too.

Petting Zoo’s and fireworks displays, explosions are fun, who cares about what’s actually happening in the fights? I like to just sit there with 1 on autocast and watch the pretty explosions, gives the combat so much depth.

Sure it’s fun for the brainless ranged DPS. My thief that’s trying to apply backstabs on the boss and dodge his big attacks is annoyed though.

Well obviously it’s bad in sPvP since you need to know what the hell individual players are doing, but in WvW you just need an idea of what the bigger picture is in a fight, which you can easily do once you train your eye for it.

Omg I can’t stand the fireworks I mean particle effects in this game. I can’t see kitten in any fight. I just target the boss and hit 1 then go take a nap because I can’t tell what the kitten is going on.

I guess so.

It applies to PvE though as well. Since it covers the amazing design on bosses/creatures and since they insist on making animations the only telegraphs, it completely ruins boss encounter design in some cases.

If they disabled the hit animations the game would be far more legible. They don’t even need to touch the actual skill animations.

but I play a melee guardian and I absolutely love it :/, all that flashiness makes me feel like friendly fire is on and I can withstand it all, LIKE A BOSS!
