I checked the wiki, and searched on the forum and got no hits before positing. If mods think this should go to a different forum, please move it.

When you gift something from the Gem Store, if the recipient refuses the gift what happens? Does the gifter get a refund, or the item? Or does the giftee get a chance to redeem for refund?

You might try contacting CS for an answer. If no one here knows….

Thanks for the suggestion. I was hoping there was documentation I’d somehow overlooked, or that someone would have some personal experience that would provide an answer. I’d rather not bother customer support over such a flimsy “What if the sky should fall?” type of issue. But if no answers are forthcoming on the forum, I probably will.

Well, I’m thinking if the ‘gift’ was refused, that the Gem Store would just refund your purchase (as in putting back the gems removed from your balance). There may, or may not, be a notice pertaining to such. /shrug

Gifts are always successful. There is no ‘refuse’ step or ‘return’ step, much like there isn’t a refuse or return on purchases for yourself. (except probably even more strict since we wouldn’t allow you to request an item be removed from someone else) . Once the gift, and message, appear in the mail the purchase is considered complete.

The only way to even approximate refusing would be to delete the delivery mail or the item delivered. Which would be treated the same as any other item deletion.

Thank you Curtis, for the prompt reply. Just to be clear, there is no “Return To Sender” button on Gem Store Gift emails?

I was wondering if there will later be an option to return to sender for a gem store gift. I received an item that I already have and don’t want to waste the item I’d rather the person who sent it get to have it at least.

Really? wow… could we maybe do something about that?

A return to sender thing could prevent a lot of disputes happening, or wasted items.

I also think a timeout return? if it’s been in their mail until the date it would normally get deleted, it just gets sent back instead?

What if you try to surprise someone, and he doesn’t want or need the item, or simply already has it?
Can he open a customer support ticket asking refund for person who gifted this item to them?
How would this be different if an item was picked up from an email from an item that wasn’t picked up yet?

Sometimes, you just don’t know how to ask about it if you really want to keep it as a surprise.

Thank you!
