I’ve been participating in some events lately, and not getting any credit for it. I’ve asked, and have received answers expressing varying degrees of philosophies on the matter, including things you can do to improve your chances, but it all seems a bit beside the point to me.

An event, since I started playing, was always a thing you could just show up at, and help with, and get credit for. To not get credit, you would quite literally need to do nothing and just watch everyone else complete it. Turn in one mushroom to the guy who needs mushrooms, hit one bandit – once, trying to attack some citizen you are escorting out of a cave, etc. Might only be bronze, but you’d have participated.

There are events now, since the patch, where I’m just not registering any credit, and ‘clearly’ I’m participating. I’m not talking about launching one fireball, seeing a damage number, and then sitting back and waiting for everyone else to finish. I’m talking non-stop rotations, throwing everything I can at them, and walking away with nothing.

I’m not talking about world events either, just normal events, so this is truly not a ‘once a day’ thing, and even then, I’m good about keeping track on my own about what I’ve done and haven’t done in a day.

So, it would seem to me that something is not tuned properly with the introduction of the megaservers, and the completion requirements need to be changed (honestly, I don’t understand why it’s not just doing 1 pt of damage to something, as you can turn in 1 thing in a collection and get completion). Or, if the philosophy has changed, and dynamic events are no longer about organic participation, rather groups of people competing with each other, then I (I would not presume to say ‘we’) would very much like a statement of direction/(change of) philosophy on the matter.

I sincerely hope it’s not the latter, as that isn’t any better than monster tagging, which was one of the core mechanics that got me excited about the game to begin with.

This extends to killing champions as well. Well maybe not all champions, but ones that stand out are Maw, who I always used to get a bag from, and the 4 new ones at Jungle Wurm, which are terribly inconsistent between when they’ll give you a bag or not. I always used to get a bag from Maw. Now, doing the exact same amount of work, I rarely get a bag from him any more.

I sincerely hope there’s just something that is broken in the algorithms for determining such things in the face of megaservers, but if it’s a change in philosophy, I would greatly appreciate some sort of statement to that effect. Why is not a bad word.

Ever since the patch, I’ve noticed weird results on occasion. A couple times I was the only person doing an event and only got a Bronze or Silver reward. I’m afraid I just shrugged it off with a little scowl, and didn’t report it or take note of circumstances. I know I have joined in late sometimes on Champs (1/2 to 1/4 health left) and gotten no reward whatsoever, even though I know I dealt significant damage. So yeah, I’ve noticed some strange stuff going on myself here and there.

I suppose they may have lowered rewards if we’re being downscaled, fighting bad guys who aren’t really much challenge.
