Hey.

So I remember reading a dev in this forum saying something like bots are allowed as long as you don’t gain any advantage over your enemies. I understand that opening lootbags, crafting things in the MF, etc, aint gaining an advantage over your enemy, unlike having a bot that automatically casts certain skills on your enemy is.

On the other side, the Rules of Conduct say:

“You may not use any third-party program (such as a “bot”) in order to automate gameplay functions, including playing, chatting, interacting, or gathering gold or items within Guild Wars 2. You may not assist, relay, or store gold or items for other players who are using these processes.”

So… what’s the valid answer? Also, can anyone please link the post to the dev’s post? I’d like to know what he said exactly, but I can’t find it :’(

Mods, not bots.
In that case we are talking about visual mods for example or something simliar.

If someone finds it, I’d like to make a motion that it be sticky’d, because this thread pops up approximately every other day

Rule of thumb: If you have to ask if it’s okay, don’t do it.

The only one I can recall reading is ok, is macros to play songs on gem store musical items. Anything else is likely to get you into trouble.

I doubt they would have used the word “bot” and said it was okay since that usually refers to bot farmers. They did say automation however, which is just another way of saying it.

So.. “because the rules pertain to gameplay advantages, such as faster kills or more effective defense.”. This is just so confusing. Gameplay advantages… I interpret that as fighting/jumping puzzles/etc, not opening lootbags, playing instruments (as they said), etc… but hey, I guess this will never be cleared enough xD
