Did you watch the video? It’s within the first 1 minute. He states that he doesn’t want to add another tier, and if it does happen it will be because someone else is either in charge of the development team or will be about 7 years from now.

just for curiosity, once we will have ascended weapons where do we use it? we craft those to do what? jumping in the sab? ah yes… we will use them for farming the mats for the ascended armors…
and i already can say light will be a gown, medium a trenchcoat and heavy a plate with a butt mantle… because for some reason we are not allowed to look different whatever we wear when we see ourselves from behind all the time

I don’t get the hate with ascended. Personally I love it since I can do everything I enjoy like fractals, JPs, Dungeons, WvW, Orr, World Bosses and get the regular rewards ALONG with ascended materials that I can slowly save up for my dagger I plan to make. Ascended shouldn’t be a grind unless you make it a grind yourselves. Just chill and relax and you can still get the weapons.

Yep. This pretty much sums it up. We’ll see another tier within a year I bet.

2 months? People were complaining that exotics were too easy to get within the first week of release. People were fully geared out with exotics and their legendaries by the end of the first month. It took ANet awhile to answer the gap between exotics and Legendaries.

And before anyone says “thats ANet’s problem for being lazy and slow” and whatever insult you can think of. You gotta keep in mind that ANet is trying to cater to four branches of players. WvWer, PvE (explorers), PvE (farmers) and SPvP players.

ANet isn’t perfect, but after playing so many MMOs out there, I believe this game is the best option I have currently.

But then, that has nothing much to do with your missconception on what he said.

They said lots and lots of stuff before launch, most of those didnt come to anything and quite a few completely broken so i would say that their word means pretty much nothing, they may announce new tier tomorrow.

Anyways, that comes down to what people define grindy. I don’t see how making Ascended weapons/armor grindy. You play the game like you normally do, you get mats as they come, and then you make the weapons/armor. Do you really need to get the new weapons Today??

the problem is not grinding for them according to me, the problem is we already completed the game with exotics, where do we need ascended? and why? to get higher in fractals which has no end and always the same mechanics over and over only with more mobs and agony, and therefore no means to get higher?

Did he say that there would be no further vertical progression? No. They even said last November that there were no plans for new tiers of rarity, simply infusions and whatever other gains to power they can come up with without a new tier. Power creep will continue.

What does this mean? Well, Ascended was never the problem. It is simply a point on an ever ascending power curve. Vertical progression is the problem and until Mr. Brohanson (sic) declares an end to it there is no reason to quit the doomsaying. VP is a blight on gaming and really needs to be removed from this game.

Actually, I think irresponsible implementation of cash shops/after market DLC are a bigger blight on gaming than Vertical Progression. Along with “Games for Windows Live”.

WoW doesn’t have any gear past Legendaries. Yet Epics are constantly getting higher and higher stats. This proves nothing.

Whats to enjoy about it?

The challenge of getting there, and then showing it off, yeah sure that’s how most mmo players are.

kitten shame you can’t actually do that though without grinding your skin off your fingers.

I don’t even think WoW is this grindy… and I quit WoW cuz of the grind LOL…
