Once upon a time, there was a boon called Regeneration. It was a fairly rare boon, although almost every class had access to it, it was typically only from one source, meaning that receiving Regeneration in battle was quite a substantial bonus.

The only exception to this rule was perhaps the Warrior’s banners constantly emitting Regeneration on certain builds, although this strategy also had its importance in the game.

Fast forward to Heart of Thorns, and every class has access to massive mounts of Regeneration, boosted by boon duration, and are able to keep it up nearly 24/7 on themselves if not allies as well. Its become so common that you might as well not even pay attention to it anymore and just assume that you always have Regeneration on you.

I feel like something really needs to be done about this. I’m not sure if changing it to stack like Stabiilty would be the proper solution, but right now I just think with all the spam its starting to lose its place in the game.

Regeneration is pretty weak honestly. Its perma protection, perma stability, perma resistance that are the biggest problems in the current meta

This post isn’t about it being too effective ? Its about it pretty much no longer existing because its always there, its just become a baseline expectancy.

Baseline? Maybe in certain environments. I know that none of my guard, mesmer, ele and my colleagues’ necro spam it. In the environment where it might actually matter, Ori already named the biggest offenders.

For Regeneration to be very useful, there needs to be an investment in Healing Power, which many people don’t build for. So, even if it is in common use, I’m skeptical that it is applied as usefully as it could.

Regeneration is very powerful, though, when Healing Power is invested in a build. Since it stacks in duration, those people who use it in big groups but don’t use HP, just shoot themselves in the foot when more powerful Regen applied by others is waiting to finally get its ticks.

I don’t think that a boon being common is reason enough to change it. Especially as when, as I mentioned above, my doubts that it is being used effectively. Fury and swiftness are all really common to have up near-constantly (especially in large groups), does that mean they need to change?

I never assume I have any boon on me, unless I know I’m putting it on myself. That makes getting boons from other’s a pleasant surprise when I get them, instead of a disappointment in an unfulfilled expectation when it’s not there.

Regeneration is fine as-is, and a diamonds-became-glass reason isn’t good enough to change it.

Well then I guess might, fury and swiftness pretty much no longer exist either. And in WvW, resistance, protection and stability no longer exist

Regen only really matters when someone has healing armor. If they don’t, why bother even expecting it? It would only do like 20, compared to a healer’s one of like 300
