I think the way these elite professions have been released is bad for a couple of reasons.

1) The release of information on skills and traits gives players the opportunity to get gear ready for their characters, work on build theory and get a decent idea on how the class works before release. Being a PVP game that gives quite a bit of advantage to those who can hit the ground running.

2) I think this is the most important reason staggering the release of the elites is a bad idea. We are going to have very little time left to test these classes. I imagine the release of the last elite is going to be lucky to get any time to be tested at all before it goes live. We could see a completely overpowered powerhouse that will have a huge impact on the game should it become instant FOTM.

I have a feeling it’s Engi that will be last. That suits me as I main an Engi, save the best for last and all that. :P

As for having enough time to test them I think we will be ok. More than likely the last to be shown (only 1 or 2 left right?) should be done within the next few weeks I am assuming . So that should give us well over a month to test them all.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

Won’t it be only 3 or 4 days…(if they are released before the next BWE)?

Perhaps, the last two Elite Specializations have been worked on the longest, and will turn out to need less adjustments. Who knows? =)

I shouldn’t think so. I have a feeling this event in these old maps has two reasons.

1 to test these new monsters and the fight mechanics in a live environment against greater numbers of people (including those who don’t have access to the betas).

2 as a sort of advertisement to both new players and old players who have not bought HOT yet to say “hey, this is how cool things will be in HOT – buy it now!”.

Do you mean the event starting tomorrow? No mention of being able to use Beta characters with that. I think that’s just for our existing non-beta characters. It’s not a Beta event.

I think no 2 is the reason especially as the mobs shown in the screenshots are those already in Silverwastes. Personally I’m not expecting too much from these events them be like the Scarlett invasions: a bunch of mobs will teleport into the middle of a field and will wait for the zerg. With no loot. But it’s mainly there to sell HoT and the game to the new P4F players, that’s why they’re using it as a guild recruitment drive too.

Still at least it’s new mobs standing in those fields.

Yeah that’s the one, it’s running into the weekend so I thought that’s what you were meaning. Not sure when the next actual Beta weekend will be.

Id rather have the skills known, tested, and balanced than to protect against some people having the gear premade…because all you really have to do is head to the crafter and or auction house once you realize what you need anyway.

Plus I would rather have the devs know the exact “meta” being used well before the specializations are launched, the less time people get comfortable with a broken class the better it will be. Changing/nerfing/balancing many months down the road is just going to create a swarm of tears, doing that same balance a week into the launch on the otherhand wont…especially if people know its coming.

Yeah exactly my point. I feel sorry for the last released class.
