Wiki is wrong. 5pm reset does not remove diminishing returns.
Anet will tell us what causes it. why won’t they tell us what removes it?

If I play another area, does that remove DR and is the amount of time I play there a determining factor in the removal of DR? Does DR remove gradually, so the longer I play somewhere else, the more DR is removed, until it is at zero again? or does it go from 100% DR to 0% DR as soon as I do, what ever it is I am supposed to do?

Is my character just screwed from now on because it is 100% world map, and has finished the story line? and I enjoy playing the game in one specific ‘supposedly’ rewarding area? (ie a lvl 80 zone) How big of an area encompasses DR if I am killing stuff there? Is it per foe, or per zone? Is it all of Kryta, Maguuma etc.?

People in my guild like to joke about how anet has singled me out for terrible drops. I am not concerned with the RNG.

I would love to know if I am trying to catch fish in an empty lake.

AFAIK, playing in another area does remove the DR from the area you came from.
For the DR, I think it’s zone/map wide (i.e DR is calculated per zone in a map and per map).

Try cycling between the two L80 zones when you’re playing. Or take a break from the L80 zone and travel to the sub-80 zones you haven’t played yet. It’s a good break from the sights, and helps mitigate your DR (the lower Far Shiverpeaks regions come in mind).
