You know guys, every title has their own community and some famous renowned players. I always loved reading articles, guides and watching videos of them. On the other hand, internet is mostly filled with junk and its hard to find something in value. So if you know phenomenal people playing GW2 please share and discuss in this title.

And there I was thinking that knowing what celebrity plays GW2 perfectly fits the definition of “internet junk”.

If I misinterpreted and you actually mean people famous within GW2, then Teldo trumps everyone.

I beleive he means Guild Wars 2 players if he does then the well known mesmers are;

Pyroatheist
Osicat

there’s a bunch more but generally there the biggest name if you ask me for the mesmer, Kylia and Pyro have a podcast too, together 1-3 episodes a week depending on what happens with the game, there game time etc.

thief i can think of Yishis and as for the others i cant really say.

Ethersin, and Gearbreaker I think are up there.

I feel Mr Prometheus should be considered a famous player, at least for me
Played a elementalist since launch and gave up for a few months.

It was Mr Prometheus’s mesmer guide that gave me the push to replay GW2
and choose a Mesmer instead, and guess what? I Love Mesmers so much

Not sure if he’s still playing tho, he has not been updating his Youtube video for awhile now.

Yes I mean GW2 players. I think lots of people know Swifty from WoW as a warrior. Leeroy Jenkins anyone..? They played good(not the best maybe), they played awkward or simply different but following those were always entertaining. Swifty forexample, changed the game by himself. He played the game his way, he made guides, he exploited sometimes even crashed a server, get banned etc. I want to know players that can extend the gameplay with their ideas and gameplay.

I’ve never heard of anyone mentioned in this thread, except Chuck Norris.

I don’t know any of the names mentioned here.
The only Guild Wars name that’s ever stuck with me is the guild name “War Machine” from the first game, but even there I couldn’t name individual members. And I don’t think they have a presence in GW2.
Then again, the only famous gamers I remember are old Quakers such as Thresh or Fatal1ty. Thresh because he won Carmack’s Ferrari and was the first example of a “Star” pro-gamer, Fatal1ty because he has good marketing.

Hey, in FOTM the “Charr” instance, theres an NPC named Dulfy.
Is the player Dulfy named after this NPC? Or did Anet create this Dulfy as a nod to her?

I didn’t see Surfeuze mentioned. First GW2 player to cap at 80. Surfeuze did this in 32 hours by PvE to 60 then crafting to 80 using mats his guild gave him. Even though it sounds like the content was mostly skipped over to me that seems like an insane amount of time to cap that fast.

Dulfy is a she? :x idk anything personal about her or her characters but I use her site all the time.

course Dulfy for her invaluable GW2 guide.

to do the first Halloween event at all. Anet didn’t even bother to give any

I’m not going to argue with you because the OP simply asked for names and said he liked reading articles about it. I provided both. Sorry I’m not some elite gamer like you because I play casually and don’t bash my head against my monitor because I didn’t get the armor I wanted on a certain day.. I didn’t say, “Wow I’m mind blown by it.” I did say doing so in a short amount of time seems pretty amazing to me.

In fact i think my bug fix thread touched a very raw nerve with alot of players.
Something i hope Anet can sit up and take notice.

The 2 most famous players have been banned by arenanet because they exploited the game. Or actually it’s because they bought an item from a NPC that was to cheap. So anet banned them because they made a mistake in their own game rofl. There are some famous GW2 players left, but don’t do much anymore. (Dontain & MattVisual). The only interesting thing left in this community is GameBreaker TV. It’s funny when i type “GW2” in youtube, the first thing i see is: Kripperrian – World First Permaban

Never heard of anyone in this thread except Dulfy and even then only as a website with some useful lists on it. I’m not sure most people even realise there is a player with the same name.

I’m finding it hard to imagine what exactly would qualify someone as a famous player. Sure there’s being the first to do whatever, but there’s never any proof that they definitely were the first (and not just first to announce it somewhere public) and it’s not really that notable unless there was an actual race/contest. It’s possible someone could have gotten to 80 faster for example bur the vast majority probably weren’t even trying.

I think it’d have to be either something really exceptional or a long running “community service” type of thing – like guilds who arrange their own server-wide events on a regular basis.

Wel I did see Zezima once in GW2 but he was not the real one I’m sure, besides he was a real noob anyways lol….

Kripperrian got banned for making 8 gold. And this was for the chilly pepper thing. Not the 20 karma weapons. The chilly peppers were a nice way to make money, but you couldn’t really tell this was an exploit or not. It was hard to say. Back then, you could NOT report bugs + he didn’t get a warning + he payed 80$ for the game and got banned after a week. In my eyes it’s anet saying: Thank you for your money, now go away, BAN. In REAL LIFE companies fix the problem and say sorry to the customer.

I think this is the point where everyone secretly names off their alts.

Now, if forums counts and we are talking infamous… I’ve made quite a few people dislike me strongly (read: despise) that I doubt will be forgetting my name any time soon after the Ascended gear fiasco =D

With the exception of surfeuze, and that’s just cause he was the first to 80… I don’t recognize any of these names, except maybe a few in passing that I see on forums from time to time but think nothing more of them than I do any other post.

Our definitions of famous are all very different =D
