Repetitive after level 30?
So my problem atm is im currently level 32 Ranger and im getting pretty bored already, i feel as tho once i got to 30 and got all the skills i wanted now it just seems….repetitive and now i have no urge to play anymore which really sucks cuz ive been waiting soon long for this game.
Ive tried pretty much every class, i have a level 21 Elementist and that got boring fast lol ugh i want to play but i just dont feel it anymore What can be done?!
Do something else. WvW or sPvP/tPvP are good options. I always get bored with PvE, so I feel you.
Swap around your weapons, tactics, try new things. If you need the game to keep giving you new abilities then this game might work out for you in the long run. Logout, come back in week or two or check the expansion. Don’t try to force yourself to have fun! Beauty of B2P as there is nothing that forces you to play the game
I’m level 41 ranger myself and haven’t got bored yet. Recently I swapped to axe/torch and greatsword. It’s sweet creating your own combos with torch firefield!
Getting all the skills isn’t that difficult, but truly master them can take a while. Have you been in the first dungeon yet, you will find out there that it is quite challenging?

This. Also remember, you have no sub, so you can always take a break with no repercussions.
Norn Guardian – 80
Thnx for the responses guys. Im gonna try switching up my weapons i really only use shortbow and if i have to use my sword/warhorn. I havent tried the dungeon yet it says level 30 but i just want to get abit above 30 first before i try it out.
so far so good on my guardian and engie. mind you, i planned on maining a ranger, and i left him sitting at level 7. just wasnt feeling the class personally. i felt disconnected from both my pet, and nature-based magic (main reasons for wanting to play one). mind you, the marksmanship abilities of the ranger were well-executed – just felt too much like a ranged and nimble warrior.

OMG! So I’m NOT crazy?! I feel exactly the same way! And trust me, it doesn’t get better. I’m level 80 now and I’m playing my character in exactly the same way I did at level 30. Honestly, those 50 levels don’t even need to be there. They could of left the level cap at 30 and things would of been the same.
as a level 62 Necromancer i am not bored at all, i use Double Dagger as my main weapons. and staff as a Second set. and i always swap up my utilities so i sometimes use minions and traits that work together (Siphon health with every hit, your minions siphon health and transfer to you every hit, siphon health with critical strikes, Siphoning health is 50% more effective) and i just mess around with vet’s that a normal person can’t solo. and i’ve found ways to use DoubleDaggers and Staff Together awesomely.
Also i use more team-friendly utilities in dungeons and WvW, you should get used to that aswell (AoE Healing, AoE Revive from downed, Converting Conditions to Boons AoE, Etc.)

If/when you do the 30 dungeon I recommend having a good crew with you, and you should probably stay ranged. AC is one of the hardest/most annoying dungeons in the game, especially your first run through.
I know everyone suggested the PvP aspect, which I’ve barely delved into myself, but I’d also like to suggest crafting. You still gain exp and the exploration of tracking down new materials might take you to new areas as well.
Guys, if you feel that way, check out this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Improved-Combat-Skill-system/first#post64345
I will also being doing one on the event system and ideas for improvement. I’m hoping to gather up people who have become bored, together, to work to provide ideas and input to make this a more, long-term enjoyable game. As right now, it is very basic, very monotonous.
If a sense of progression is the only thing that makes you want to play the game, then you might need to change your mindset. I’ve used the same Engineer build for about 150 levels (Got to level 40 first two betas, level 30 third beta, and now level 80 Engineer in release)
Still having fun, because the fun is not in leveling up and getting new stuff. The fun is in playing the game, exploring the world and enjoying the lore. The progression is coincidental, it happens as a natural thing that occurs while you play through and enjoy the game.

Reading through this tread, not a single person said that, so I’m not sure where you’re getting that from. Just because I think progression could be done better, or even that progression is important, doesn’t mean that progression is the “only thing” that makes me want to play GW2… This evidently isn’t the case, since I still love the game, even though progression stops almost entirely after level 30 except in the traditional, linear fashion of; I now do more damage!
Ashes is right. It’s already been mentioned before the game was released that the meat of power progression only occurs up to the areas of 20 to 30. Unlike the most common MMO design your will not get significantly stronger after that point. Instead it’s about the your talent points and talent builds. It’s about creating set’s for handling different situations.
If your getting bored start doing DE alone or with smaller groups. The game’s big meat is not the combat it’s the DE’s. Start challenging yourself and since your scaled down with your abilities. Head back and redo those old skill challenges solo.
The developers didn’t make this game where they need you pay a sub. Enjoy the game at your own leisure and not the grind content to max level.

" I remember early EQ players in beta for World of Warcraft. They would just run out into the fields and start killing monsters…and be disappointed. When I asked them if they tried the quests, they would always react with shock…they never tried them, or in some cases, even noticed them. But once people started questing, it was a completely different experience, and the rest was history."
For those that don’t know. EQ had the players mostly sit in a spot where a monster would spawn. This was called camping. You and your party would just kill the spawn when they come up. There was no travelling to different areas of the map to explore. Leveling was the goal of the game and it was just about sitting for HOURS out of the day in one spot and killing the monster.
What Mark is saying is that Blizzard succeeded once the old players realized that the game wasn’t about experience X, but instead about experience Z. The same is true for GW2. Don’t go looking for experience Y as your won’t find it to what your expecting or used to. Instead look at experience B. It will open up large new vista’s.

Wish i could see things the way you do, but i cant. I enjoy leveling and the progression of skills an abilities which makes me want to keep leveling to reach the next point, but after 30 there really isnt much to offer in those terms and its really disappointing. Like other have said there is really no difference in being level 30 to being 80 apart from the obvious more health/damage and better items. Just dont feel its worth putting the effort into :/
Gonna try thief out anyway seeing as its the only class i haven’t tried yet.
Also im not saying i dislike the game, i just wish there was i dont know… more to it
You can do fractals which could be fun from time to time. Also sPvP could provide some fun. Moreover, if you’d like to have some pvp with some PvE aspect, you really got to try WvWvW which can get a lot of fun.
Hope that helped you out. Good luck.
Certain professions in pve do get boring fast. The majority of fights require little more than using certain skills in rotation. Now multiply that experience by a million.

I felt the same about ranger and elementalist that you do, though there has been enough variety in other classes to be interesting.
With elementalist it was boring and I deleted mine, but then rerolled a different race and enjoyed it, so I think there’s something to be said about class/race synergy.
Ranger though…it was the same at 40 as it was at 20, little variety for me and I got bored.
My suggestion would be to pick a class and stick with it through 40 or 50. Most classes in this game don’t come into their own until around then, and then you get your variety through traits and slot skill selection. When in doubt, try a guardian or warrior, there are many ways to play these classes. Mesmer would also be a good choice.
Good luck OP, hope you find a class that suits you.
Agreed.
My Warrior is Lv.34 and I honestly dont feel like continuing to level her up anymore. I have all the skills I need, and the sense of progression is so minuscule that I feel it’s not worth leveling to 80. I had leveled to 80 before on a Mesmer, and to be honest that wasn’t too bad. But it was during the period when this game was still crowded with players. Now, leveling is even more boring as 95% of the areas are barren and there is hardly anyone else playing in the same area.
Well, I spend most of my time in PvP anyway, but at the back of my mind it still bugs me that I haven’t reached endgame with her yet.
…if Lv.80 can be considered as an endgame.
