Replacement for celestial/divinity/dyes
I have full ascended celestial trinkets and I still use them. I don’t see the problem with them..
The game is subject to change all the time, doesn’t entitle everyone to refunds.
I bought this computer 2 years ago, doesn’t mean I get money back because the price has changed
These items still function the same as they did previously. In fact, Anet buffed the stats on them. So what’s there to complain about?

That is just not true.

Yeah, there was like a 6% boost on non-critical damage stats. Overall DPS is still down slightly, but they got higher stats in the last patch.

1- Celestial and Divinity runes do not fufill the same function as they did when we paid for them
Yes they do, its function was to give a balanced build, and it still does, if you bought/made only because of the crit damage, it is your problem.
2- Some of us spent real money on gems in order to accelerate the speed of acquisition of that gear
That is an option the player made, it can be done w/o spending a single gem.
3- Some of us spent months crafting celestial ascended gear (I didn’t fortunately) or acquiring laurels for celestial trinkets (that I did)
So? Same happens with the other stats.
4- We spent in average 60g on divinity runes, celestial ascended mats cost well over 200g
Again, if you got all that only because of the crit damage, it is your problem, celestial was meant to be balanced.
5- To those of us who had the gear match the build for precise stats our characters are totally broken (~40% critical damage reduction on a character using full celestial gear and divinity runes)
~40% depending on the build.
My engineer rely in a mix of power and cond damage and wear celestial set, my damage is around the same as before and my survivability is a bit better.
All in all I had to spend about 80g to re-gear my character to be playable again and I’m still not done yet.
Meta builds, traits, skills, etc … all can change anytime and you may want (not need) to change all your gear and spend a lot, but that is how MMOs work.
By the way, I’m still waiting for my special dyes replacements (especially my 3 charred dyes duplicates), customer support is really slow.
Imagine the list of support tickets they have, also they said that most of the tickets would be attended around May.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

The crit damage was part of the function. If something does not do all of what it does before then it no longer completely fulfills its previous function.

The concept is the same, only the mechanics of the stats changed. Celestial stats were meant to be a “Jack of all trades, master of none”. It gave even stat boosts across the board. Still does. And due to the Crit nerfs, they buffed the stats to make up for it. If your whole purpose was to go all out Crit, then you should have invested in ’Zerker stats instead.
They reduced the crit damage and improved all the rest, the function is still fulfilled maybe not as well as before.
It was a balanced stat combo and it still is, the crit damage was an “exploit” imo.
EDIT: Exactly what Smooth Penguin said.

I ran full celestial before the patch and I still run it now. Yes I lost some crit damage but everything else was buffed by 6.5%
Frankly, I barely notice the loss in crit damage. The effective damage increase from more power/condi damage makes up for it, as does the improved survivability. My character is just as effective as he was before, if not more so.
If you bought celestial for the crit damage then you made a poor choice even before the patch (it’s a balanced set; zerk is better for that.) If your character is reduced to “totally broken” by a loss of some crit damage then you have bigger issues than regearing.
if all are fine i am still try to find what is wrong and my previous rune setup ( 2 trevelers + 4 divinity ) had better stats than the 6 divinity that i have now ….
also i can not understand WHY the boon duration is separated stat in trevelers , monk , water , givers e.t.c. and IT IS NOT INCLUDED in divinity stats . at least they should add in description all stas but not boon duration , to be a bit professional .
my opinion is that it is wrong this logic …very wrong ( like the stats in ascended jewelers or exotic back item that have better stats than ascended , as you can see in this post : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/crafting/Where-is-the-Sentinel-Ascended-Back-item/first#post3741078 ) , and this is why the divinity dropped so much its price and nobody give a try to celestial armor !!!
ANET should review what means stat in this game !!!

It amazes me how expensive it is to gear up a new 80 or just change your build around.
This game has become one massive gold sink.

I don’t notice that to be the case at all. Exotics are still way cheaper than they were even 6 months after launch. It used to cost a whole lot more to gear a character. With shared Ascended items, it’s even less money actually.

I respectfully disagree.
It’s now harder than ever to get Temple Armor and the rune/sigil changes resulted in a price hike for anything that is even slightly desirable. I helped my brother gear out his first 80 last weekend and it was an absolute pain coupled with sticker shock.
After this last “feature patch” I believe offering people that had divinity runes and celestial gear the opportunity to replace those items would have been the right thing to do, considering that:

Xillix, I empathize with your current situation completely.
I honestly have no desire to play my Elementalist at the moment because re-gearing her out is just going to be a massive undertaking. When you throw the nerf to Meteor Shower through its AoE indicator into the equation, I just don’t even want to touch my Staff Ele because we’ve been once again pigeon-holed into Support builds.
On the bright side of things, at least Ele’s got some nice changes in sPvP.

Pack is a good choice that’s not toooooo expensive. Or Ranger. Engineer is good for anything that uses lots of bundles (Engy kits, Ele conjure weapons) and is dirt cheap.

I still like my celestial gear. The crit went down but everything else went up. Divinity and Travelers runes also saw stat buffs in compensation for the inevitable crit nerf which effected anyone wearing gear that had crit damage on it. I never made my Celestial gear for the crit damage, I made it for the hybrid stats.
I like being able to play Jack of all trades/master of none. I have barely noticed a decrease in damage, its there but it doesn’t feel crushing in the least. I’ll still keep it around tyvm.

Thanks, I tried to leave the elementalists problems out of this thread but for sure there are tons of them, speaking about the WvW balance:
The nerf to cantrip traits (healing on cantrips) and the elemental attunement trait basically destroyed build diversity, leaving you with only 30 points you can move around for offence (in comparison to 50 before for the same effectiveness).
They added a huge red circle to meteor shower (it actually appear over 1 sec before the meteors start to drop so everyone dodge out of it) without increasing it’s effectiveness or damage, it’s nerf done unprofessionally and it is inconsequential.
Also now you do more damage placing points in fire than in air, and over that you can blind with the new fire trait and extend your meta-condi duration. In short, fresh air builds have little reason to be used now.
However this thread is about how they handled the celestial and divinity item stats change and the replacement dyes Anet promised but I never received.
