Hello guys. My “brilliant” brain gave birth today to one decent idea. We have the temples in Orr ,different forts and camps, those have a chain of events to claim them for a " faction" like seraph etc. But wouldn’t be awesome and nice the guilds who helped doing those events, to be able to “claim” them.It would be a pseudo-claim since it will still be the seraphs or…the npcs “owning” them but the guild who helped the most in the event could have the banners raised in/near the camp/temple and can receive a small buff like 10% exp or karma etc.
That would be IMO a nice way to repopulate some areas and it would be nice to “own” something in the PVE area.
So,what do you think?

Sounds interesting. But what would stop someone with a one person guild claiming the PvE event for himself before a large guild can claim it?

It would be like WvW,the way camps or anything there is claimed. If more than one guilds does it ,the one who works more for it gets the right to claim it.
And if a 1 man guild comes 1st and works the most for it that 1 man guild should be able to claim.

Some addition: When the forts/temples are lost/claimed by the “mobs” ,buff is deactivated and the fort/temple claim on it is lost.

There are many camps and stuff to be claimed so I think many guilds would have the opportunity to “own” something in pve and a good rule would be that a guild can claim only 1 fort/temple.

How does WvW sort out which guild is doing the most work?

I am not entirely sure but I suppose the guild who killed the most “mobs” and stayed the most on the capturing area get’s the claim right.
I can’t find anywhere a 100% explanation.

What I was wondering if WvW uses reward track progress to track individual’s WvW
work and through that their guilds. If it does it may require tracking through a reward track also in PvE.

The reward track imo doesn’t seem to be related to claiming or mostly anything other than general “farm” in WvW. And reward tracks in PvE….idk about that.

I suspect it’s the reward track. Counting the ticks per individual along a standard track would be easier to keep track of than variable damage from moment to moment to mobs, other players, doors and whatever else.

There is a PvE reward track on all except the starter maps. It’s what records events you do and hands out map bounties. It’s possible that could be changed to be more like the WvW reward tracks if that’s what tracks guild claiming.

This sort of thing happened in GW: Factions. There were certain parts of the map that could be controlled by the Luxons or Kurzicks.

Nothing….which is the same thing that is stopping a large guild from splitting up and trying to see how many they can claim before a small or one person guild can claim anything.

This is a nice idea, but it won’t work. Seeing as there are always more than one map, you’d end up having guild owning the same thing just on a different map, so if you left you might not get back on to “your” map.

Nice idea, I just think it would be hell to implement.

In addition to this the maps close. If it closes a few minutes after a guild wins and everyone is sent to a new map then all that works is for nothing. That would be discouraging.

For those interested, here’s how Guild Claiming works (unless it has changed) in WvW:

When claiming objectives, the guild with the most members present when an objective is captured has first priority. If that guild passes, then the next guild down the priority chain has the opportunity to claim it. After three passes, any guild may claim the objective.

Nothing to do with Reward Tracks, it seems.

I’d prefer that WvW content be kept to WvW. We have enough issues with balance and whatnot as it is without mixing it into PvE. Again.

I don’t see any harm in it, would be cool to see "the (guild name here) has defended Nebo Terrace.)

But as I said in an earlier post, given mega servers, your guild could lose “there map” if the map emptied out. We all know it happens. Also you could go off and do something else and not be able to get back on to “your map” and lose your out post. It’s a cool idea, but I feel it will be a nightmare to implement.

The OP isn’t really talking about mixing WvW content into PvE; they are offering a brainstorming prompt for spicing up PvE, especially for guilds.

I think it’s an intriguing idea, as it could apply to all sorts of chained events in which NPC allies already fight for control against NPC foes: Orr (Pact vs Risen), Kryta (Seraph vs Centaurs), etc.

It might also be useful for dealing with stalled events that are critical to collections: maybe a large enough guild can build an option to start a new map (that anyone can join, with priority given to that guild). The map would start fresh, with foes controlling all objectives and the guild might have some control about when to start some of the events (although not all).

There used to be a couple of EU and a couple of NA guilds that regular marched the continent, to eventually ‘cleanse’ Orr; they would have made great use of any feature like this.

Great idea, OP.

I agree with IWN. I think this is a good idea worth pursuing. There really isn’t much of a downside, and as it stands for the claiming system in WvW, a guild can only hold claim to one objective, so even if there are multiple big guilds running around an Orr map, they’ll only be able to claim one shrine at a time before giving up previous claims, which would allow any other guild to come along and claim it.

I think the best option would be to set it up the same as in WvW— you aren’t required to be an active participant in the capture event to be able to claim an objective, it just has to be unclaimed for you to be able to put your guild tags on it and reap any benefits your guild may have unlocked in the GH (such as increased supply or stat boosts within the objective area). If this were extended to PvE, for example, a random person running past an unclaimed (but non-hostile) Nebo Terrace would be able to claim it for whatever benefits it might give them.

For balance purposes, I don’t think guild claiming in PvE should extend to summoning of additional or more powerful guard NPCs (which I believe is a thing in WvW, iirc), but I don’t really see stat increases like +Power or +MF as being a detriment in any way to game balance. As in WvW, these stat increases should apply to all players in the area, not just those within that specific guild.

Heck, you could even open up bank, TP, or crafting station access as a spendable consumable specifically for PvE guild claiming. This could become a whole new set of unlocks in the Guild Hall.

Again, love the idea, OP. Thanks for posting.
