I don’t mind when someone is actually playing a song, or even just experimenting. But when someone is just playing a 2 note cord on the horn for minutes, while we are all waiting for a world boss spawn; enough is enough.
So am requesting that ANet add a way to either mute all musical instruments, or to mute a single player similar to block but for instruments instead of chat or messages. I do not want to kill all the game sounds, just the player that spent time standing by the mystic forge playing 1 note as fast as possible on the choir bells over and over.
This amounts to griefing, and its worse than the people who stand around using abilities that cause camera shake while I’m trying to use the trade post. Sadly there is a segment of players, whether through boredom or just pure trolling want to ruin things for others.
F11/Options-; Sound Options – 7th sliding bar down is called “Player Instrument Volume”.
Mine is usually dragged all the way to the left.
There’s also an option to remove camera shake. F11/Options (General Options) under Camera it’s the 2nd check box “Enable Camera Shake”.
I have this turned off as well. I can’t stand it… didn’t realise I had it turned off on my main account until I was in PvP on my second account. It literally was the difference between life and death for me as I struggled to plant my aoes. :P

There have been times when I’ve stopped to listen to a nice harp player and along comes another person with a horn just to spam over the first musician. Wish I could mute the troll alone and continue enjoying the harp music.
