Dearest wonderful Anet-people,

there are often complains about stereotype female armor, which sometimes seem to depict a somewhat sexist image. I am – like you – a huge supporter of gender equality and therefore demand: Give our male characters some sexist outfits too!

Seriously, have you girls and maybe guys(?) ever tried to create a male character with light armor, which gives at least a bit of an impression, what the defined body you chose before might look like? The opportunities are endless – about five chestpieces, which mostly do not represent any kind of aesthetic sensitivity and one is not even available any more (tribal pvp thingy).

Wanna see a bit of the wonderful shaped legs, slightly darkened by the endless hours in the hot sun of the silverwastes? Well, here you go: you have the wonderful choice of three!! more or less (less!) revealing light leggings. \o/ Yep, three out of sixty-five available pieces. /o\

Lord Faren is a role model for us all, showing us the finest of his attractive being even in the most desperate situations. A mesmer who wants to follow in his footsteps has to suffer a most painful death caused by the consistent ugliness most of the more revealing armor pieces come with. How is a mesmer supposed to indeed mesmerize his opponents if he looks like a dork? Exactly… maybe the next oneshot-warrior will laugh himself to death seeing the poor range of acceptable light outfits – and even than he will look more appealing.

Am I exaggerating? Of course not! The truth may be even worse! With more dragons and other horrible creatures to come in the future – how are we supposed to face the most desperate and gruesome situations ahead of us without the sweet reminder of the wonderful human, norn, charr and maybe even asura corporeality? The signs aren’t good but you, you wonderful beings of designers and artists, you can help the circumstances change for the better for all of us!

Give us some male light armor to work with! If you need inspiration, which – given the case these kinds of armor are not there yet – might be necessary, I recommend visiting a gay bar or just try to leave the house once when the sun is shining and see, how even men are able to dress up in attractive yet dignified ways. You will be surprised!

Thank you very much for your highly appreciated attention and consideration. We are eager to experience your wonderful solutions for our desire for some male armor goodness soon.

Yours kindly,
Gloury

Medium is even worse tbh, we have a grand total of zero armor’s showing anything more than our arms. For some reason heavy armor is the only category with slightly revealing armor for males.

I’d settle for more pants-and-shirt combos.

I’m really curious why the design team has such an obsession with buttcapes and dresses-for-men. Oh, and trenchcoats. So. Many. Trenchcoats.

I agree.

It’s not a coincidence at all that I have only 1 male light armoured character (and he’s an asuran), the lack of variety and in particular less conservative choices is very frustrating.

I’m not asking for half naked men everywhere, even just the option for bare arms would be nice (that’s arms plural, not 2/3 of one arm), or an open back or sides like some of the female armour has. We’ve got norn with cool tattoos, charr with beautiful fur patterns and sylvari with interesting bioluminescence effects but to be able to see any of that you basically have to pick a female character.

It also seems odd that the one area where there is a semi-decent range of revealing male clothing is heavy armor, which is supposed to provide the most protection.

One potential option would be to include collections that unlock once you have an armor set. The collection would award variations on that armor set that include more revealing or less revealing, trench coat or not trench coat, etc.

Giving players more options based on current armor sets would probably save a decent amount of development costs simply in terms of time. Just an adjustment of the skin you already have and addition of a small amount of collection content (which is already being done for the legendary collection development).

And its only an outfit. :/ I wish for some actual armor pieces to give us some creative freedom. They could shove it into the gemstore and Im sure lots of people would buy these. Your opportunity to become rich Anet!

Another solution would be to hide chest armor like gloves, etc., but actually Im not completely in favor, I would prefer some decent clothing options instead or both.

One of my lifes dreams, here. Especually with medium armor. I hate man-skirts, dresses and baggy suffocating clothing.

I definitely would like to see more rugged armor sets for male characters. I’m not into guys, so I don’t want anything that is “suggestive” insomuch as I want to look like Conan the Barbarian.

I did find a decent setup with my male mesmer, though. I settle for arms, too.

I would like some revealing male medium armour just because the trench coats tend to tail clip with my Charr and its looks kinda weird for them to be in large coats. It’s a wonder they don’t die of heat exhaustion

And fairs fair, nothing wrong with some human male legs and shoulders.

And all Charr would benefit from this! My female Charr doesn’t like being so covered in leather sheets while she’s sneaking around.

Charr and norn need to swap armor styles in a lot of cases. It would fit lore (including the GW1 charr, it seems) – not to mention science – far better.

Not sure about that. GW1 Norn often didn’t wear much armour either.
GW2 played it down but the Norn are shape-shifters . They are also much stronger, more durable and resistant to the elements than a human or even a Charr. Their culture revolves around ridicules boasting so they would want to show of their cough assets and I think their “armour” is often just decoration or incorporating their spirit animal as a sign of respect. It doesn’t look or feel realistic but since they seem to take their inspiration for heavily idealised Norse legendary and god figures (with some nature worship thrown in) that’s not surprising.

For GW2 I’m guessing they didn’t want the Charr to look primitive (because they aren’t now) but to me since they have fur and run on all fours, staying away from unnecessary coverings, particularly around the legs and shoulders just makes sense on light/medium armoured Charr. Plus it looks better.

We definitely need more revealing armors for Charr. They’ve got a lot of fur, and awesome bodies to show off and the leather and light armors are way too skimpy (And even heavy armor is lacking in the pants department)

and the female human medium armor on the other hand…. like.. wtf, how is her boob not falling out? Just give us the SAME armor just fitted to the different body types.
If you wanna be superfancy, give us a choice in the wardrobemenue to change version

like maybe next to the dye-fields [] you could have another box that, when checked, shows the “short” version that shows more skin/more sexy (i.e usually the female version. In all armor-styles btw. Even some of the heavy armors have dumb holes and naked areas that are helpful for enemies to kill you.)

If its not checked one would have the longer version. (i.e usually the male models. GW2 tries, but looking at the armors… its still..well failing often enough-and definitely failing in equality of sexy armor. )

This would be great for all. Would just need the work to fit the armors for different body type (and NOT making it less stupid on male models. If you think one clothing looks stupid and outrageous on male models but not on female… well.. thats not really cool? )

If sexy, but then please for all character-models, not just the one that the majority deems attractive. (or what reps and devs and designer think the majority will deem attractive)

I haven’t personally found this armor yet. If you’re seeing it a lot, it’s because people have the option to choose it, not because it’s actually common.

NAh, its not very often visible, this was just a "wtf, dont they know physics? " (i mean the mages.. feathered armor and such you could say that it sticks because of magic…9

its the female version of the 2nd tier human cultural armor. Has underoob. I think the pitfighter has one too… and well. the winged and feathered set (and the carpax and some other.. one of the female thingy norn cultural is also basically a fur-bra for majestic breasts) are basically cloth glued to breasts..
I´d like that option for all..
male mages should also wear the funny short shorts and the fluffy strips of cloth.. but they have no speedos but regular pants.. just giving both options.

(I mean I dont care about the stuff other players wear. They can look as sensible or ridonculous as they like. I mean we have pink norns with bunny ears.. So they would look even better with for example the feathered set as female (or just compare the masquerade set model for male with the female..)

I´d just like to have the choice for my character and I´d like that choice for all regardless of the gender of our characters.)
