Requesting clarification on Givers weapons
Because ranged weapons are inherently supposed to do less damage. As for your transmute question, the prefix is tied directly to the stats you transmuted to.
Because ranged weapons are inherently supposed to do less damage.
Beserker’s Pearl Needler (Shortbow) – Power 179, Precision 128, +Crit Damage 9%
Beserker’s Pearl Crusher (Hammer) – Power 179, Precision 128, +Crit Damage 9%
Both hammer and bow are 2-handed weapons and have the same attribute bonuses. So doesn’t seem that being ranged is the reason for less bonus.
Similarly,
Giver’s Pearl Needler (Shortbow) – Precision 128, Vitality 128, +10% Condition Duration
Giver’s Pearl Crusher (Hammer) – Precision 128, Vitality 128, +10% Condition Duration
and yet, the total attribute bonus for carrying the Giver’s Axe and Giver’s Warhorn together is Precision 128, Vitality 128, +20% Condition Duration. That’s 10% more Condition Duration that either Hammer or Bow! I believe there’s an error somewhere here.
My suggestion is for the 2-handed Giver weapons to be upgraded to +20% Condition Duration as we have paid for our items based on a minimum performance of +10% and no one will like a bait and switch nerf.
As for your transmute question, the prefix is tied directly to the stats you transmuted to.
Agree that it should but please take another look at my screenshot.
Carrion is Condition Damage, Power and Vitality
Giver (weapons) is Precision, Vitality and Condition Duration
The axe my character is holding is called Carrion Verdant Axe of Air. Carrion being the prefix but you can see the attribute bonuses are Givers.
The name may be just cosmetic but I urge the devs to verify if this is the reason Condition Duration seems bugged (because the system actually incorrectly recognizes it as Carrion and the error is shown once I did the transmute).
it is not only with Giver’s. I have a carrion verdant axe with berserker stats.
To be even more fair, from an item budget standpoint, moving the 2H to 20% would just be a start. For losing your PRIMARY stat slots for condition duration, these weapons are horribly out of wack with anything else. You are essentially giving up 180 for 2H or 90 for 1H stat points for at most, 10% condition duration. It is an awful trade-off.
Compare to foods: The best primary stat food will give you 100 to that stat, and 70 to a secondary stat. The best condition duration food gives 40% longer conditions and 70 to a secondary stat.
By that logic, 100 to a primary stat is roughly equal to 40% condition duration if the stat budget for food is any indication of the stat budget for weapons (I realize it clearly isn’t). This points out the horrible disparity between the stat loss taking Giver’s vs. a normal stat combination. Either the food is way overbudget or the weapons are way underbudget.
Do yourself a favor. Take traits/condition duration talent tree points/duration food, and don’t waste your time on these.
Thanks for the detailed comparison, Rennoko. It tells me that perhaps Anet should consider increasing the condition duration bonuses on weapons as per your argument.
Since the weapons have already been bought, I want them to work as intended.
I have another Ranger which will go the more traditional routes for stats and damage; so this one is for trying something different. Some conditions like blind and chill aren’t useful because of their damage but for their other effects; So for this ranger, I want to see if foods + runes + weapons + Trap Potency can do anything interesting.
