Restriction on Mailing expensive items
Huh?
I know of no such restriction.
When I got my first precursor, The Legend, I mailed it to a friend less than an hour later with no problems.

He did say he bought the game two months ago. And one player quoted from a wiki that newer accounts have certain restrictions when it comes to sending high value items.
As long as he actually has played the game (ie. leveled up, done some portion of map completion, done some personal story, done some pvp, etc.), the restriction will not be there.
I know there is a gold restriction since I bought a second account on sale, but I sent a couple of items worth 150ish gold each from the new account no problem, maybe the absolutely upper tp items are also restricted.
I’ve never heard of this. I know they restrict gold, but items? How would it know unless it went and checked the trading post price, which sounds unlikely. It may have been blocking him from mailing in general because he reached a number of mails for age of account limit.
ANet may give it to you.
I checked older forum posts and I am guessing that this is a countermeasure against hackers and gold farmers. What I don’t get is that my friend has his account for 2 months now. Shouldn’t he be able to send items as normal?

My thoughts:
Either your friend is pulling your chain or he needs to contact customer support.
Maybe it’s not so much an account limit as a change of mind and deciding to keep situation and he’s blaming not being able to mail it off on mail sending restrictions.

Has your friend actively PLAYED the game? Not just sat around a city map, playing the TP. Actively leveling, playing in one or more of the game modes, etc.? Playing seems to be the only way you can get rid of the Mail block for new accounts. If he has been playing, he shouldn’t be having any trouble sending or receiving mail. Similarly, if his account isn’t new, he also should have any trouble sending or receiving mail, regardless of the value of its contents.
Yep. So far he’s at level 27 last I saw him. But yeah, we talked it over and I thought I’d play it safe and just wait a few days to see if the mailing function works. Otherwise, I lose nothing.
Been playing for 2 months, only lvl 27 but has a Scarlett’s Kiss? Sounds like sitting in a city and only playing TP to me.
So, he is a 2 month old account with a level 27 character and he wants to give you an item valued at 671gold? At 2 months, starting from zero, he’s amassed enough gold that he can casually give away 671 gold?
You’ll have to excuse me for being a bit skeptical, but it’s more likely he’s pulling your leg.
ANet may give it to you.
Yeah, but it’s not like he’s asking for something in return up front. Either way, I won’t get my hopes up too much. IF he doesn’t give me the item, I didn’t lose anything.
There is a restriction for new accounts sending items but it’s only for like two weeks. This affects both mail and guild banks.

If you have a personal guild bank, invite him to it with deposit only restrictions. In 3 days he can put the item in there.

Did just that. All that’s left is to wait three days.
It was much longer than 3 days.

I got 550g in my 1st month casually playing. Don’t see an issue

Yah. you keep bringing this up. Repeatedly, in several threads.
If you got 500plus gold in first month, you were not playing casually but playing the trading post extensively or farming heavily.
I wasn’t saying it was impossible for a 2 month old account to have enough gold to give away nearly 700 gold but it’s not common or usual.
ANet may give it to you.

Guys, this dude is just making it all up. If you look at his other posts, you’ll see that this number keeps shifting. It was 300 g his first month, then it was 500 g his first month, now it’s 550 g his first month. My guess is he’s got around 2 – 5g in his pocket, if that.
I’ve sent a legendary through the messaging system just fine, but the accounts have both been active since launch.
My new account from this past weekendcould accept anything but had a 3 day restriction from the guild bank and mail.
Sending money has a 15 day gate, but sending the item itself is no problem since the mail system doesn’t set values for the items in a message.

Considering my first month hadn’t finished yet, but i guess if you want to meet in game to see the 200g i have on hand on top of the 300+g i just dumped on dyes and mordrem weps, but hey. Item values don’t lie.
I never said HOW i got it. I probably got really lucky. I found multiple high value exotics, such as rhendaks ring(75g at the time) and sold my crustacea for 170g. Thats and easy 250g right there. Factor in exotics selling anywhere from 2-30g depending on the ex, plus all the rares i sold(not farming legendaries anytime soon) so the 20-50s a piece per rare too while farming boss runs(which took no effort or time) while i study
I’m glad you’re jealous enough to track every post i make though, it seems I’ve stared a fan club. I’ll be glad to show you the dyes i bought and skins just so i can laugh.
People also forget that you can buy gold too. If the guys doesn’t play often maybe he just bought a kittenton of gold, who knows.
8 days ago 300 gold….
Snip
I earned 300g through the month as a new player, bought 1 outfit, and just bought some skins through the tp, so conversion and rates etc havent affected me one bit
And here is the real answer to how he got 550 gold in one month

Yeah, I still don’t believe any of this, but my opinion shouldn’t really bother you. lol However, we all enjoy a good rant on the forums now and again, so you’re welcome.

I provided the answer, it wasn’t hard. I understand you’re jealous, and if you want proof, you can check that my oldest posts are 1 month ago.
Also that statement is still true. If i bought mordrem skins available for gold, with gold,…………………………… then im not affected by gem to gold ratios.
So you only prove my point further…. LOL
Sorry i generalized a couple weeks to a month during my first month. Like i said the gold is real, i have the items, and the gold. I even offered to show it to you but hey. Be jelly.

To get to 500 gold in a month means, as you admitted above, that you’ve been buying gold. Maybe you had a couple of good investments but you started off by buying the gold and not by playing casually.
ANet may give it to you.
It was much longer than 3 days.
The time to access a guild’s bank after joining is, indeed, 3 days. It’s not any longer or shorter than 3 days.
I’m glad you’re jealous enough to track every post i make though, it seems I’ve stared a fan club.
Regulars here just happen to follow things and recall posts people make.
So, when you post stories about your gold earnings as a casual player that changes from 300 in the first month the 500 to 550, people are going to call you on it.
Fantasizing that forum users are jealous of his money/luck is one of his favorite things to do apparently. He doesn’t understand that most players have way more than that already, so his claim is just nonsense. He also thinks that if he tries to be insulting, we’ll forget all the times he contradicts his own claims.

I got the item value error when trying to move T6 mats to my bank well after I’ve had the account for 3 days. Being able to access the guild bank and being able to deposit are not the same thing in this case.
EDIT: I bought a new account last Saturday. I just now tried to transfer x2 of 3 different T6 mats. The first two went to my guild bank. I got the error on the third. I’m also unable to transfers items out of the guild bank as I’ve hit my limit for new accounts. When I type /age it shows how long that I have played over 5 days. It’s definitely more than 3 days.

LOL. You have got to be kidding me…
In this game, always assume there is some type of rule, restriction, time gating or etc. limiting what you can do. There are so many exceptions and rules standardizing everything I can’t keep it all straight.

Or he bought gems and sold them. Which could give you that amount instantly…but it means nothing.
One thing to remember about account restrictions is that “I mailed a few items worth 150g on a new account without issue” really means they sent about 3-10s in items – it looks at VENDOR value not how much an item trades for on the TP. Items like candy corn, that have ZERO vendor value, can be freely moved around by the stack-load on a brand new, 5 min old account because the game considers it valueless.
