Hey, is there any chance that we could get the gw1 dances in one or more dance packs? I know it could be problematic to make it work for every race, but i really liked the gw1 dances.

There ought to be more dances, I agree, and many of the GW1 dances were fantastic.

While we’re at it, can we implement more other emotes too? GW1 has so many more emotes than GW2. With the exception of /jump and the air instruments possibly, I can see no downside to implementing more emotes.

I’d really like to see customizable idle stance and dance animations. That would be epic but IDK how much work that would be for ANET.

The /scratch emote has to come back (not holding my breath though).

I’m not entirely sure how companies decide on what dances if any to use. Are there IP rights involved? At least one other mmo has used the shuffle dance from Party Rock Anthem and I’m wondering if it’s coincidence, popularity, licensing availability or some combination of the three. Does anyone know more about this decision process?

Edit: When thinking about it, the Charr dance reference, the Haka, is a cultural dance and likely not controlled by a lawyer somewhere. Maybe licensing isn’t an issue with dances.

Monk ones were fantastic. Reminded me of karate kata.

Monk ones were fantastic. Reminded me of karate kata.

It looked, to me, more like an internal style of a Chinese form like Tai Chi or Baghua Zhang.

Edit: Yup, definitely not karate. You’d know karate when you see it. Karate katas are very straight forward, for lack of a better term. All of the stances/motions used in the GW1 monk dance, at least the female one, are used in some Wushu forms and I’m pretty sure the other internal martial arts.

@nightwulf.1986 I’am sure you’re right. It’s just, karate kata was the closest association i could think of, as with kata i’am familiar (used to be) and Tai Chi or BZ i never did and never really seen. Still, they looked really great.
