Guild Wars 2

For a while now I’ve wanted some sort of ‘Return of Abaddon’ or ‘Return of the Gods’ Living Story in GW2, and although it’s not really appropriate at this stage of the game with all the Heart of Thorns and Mordremoth stuff, and the fact that it might not even happen… but, do you guys think that at some future point, we’ll see a return of the gods? Perhaps even Abaddon returning?

I remember when we had the option of voting for Ellen Kiel or Evon Gnashblade in Cutthroat Politics (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cutthroat_Politics), and most of us probably voted for Ellen simply because of the ‘cheaper waypoints for four weeks’ at the time, but one of the promises if Evon was chosen, was a ‘Fall of Abaddon’ fractal. Which got me thinking. There’s certainly interest in the past of GW1 – with the recent monk outfit, past legends being brought back for revenants, chaos and tormented weapon skins, to name a few examples… Perhaps this is a possibility after all?

Looking to the distant future, do you guys like the idea of a Return of the Gods Living Story?

it will never happen, though, as it’s too much human centered, but still, i missed the original gw and this would be a nice opportunity to catch up with old lore….

Normally my response to this would be that it’s not likely cause it’s based purely around the humans in Tyria, and while I do still believe this I wouldn’t totally discount it. Cause all of the living story we’ve had has been based on Sylvaris. So if they made some sort of event which was caused by the gods returning then maybe it could happen. Still think it’s unlikely but not impossible

True. There’s been quite a bit of sylvari related living story stuff. Maybe after Mordremoth, the gods could return to intervene with the next big villain? And then after that perhaps all the 5 races could come together, along with the gods to defeat said new villain.

No living story has been a carnival for 10 y/o it would only cheapen the lore even more
They are professionals so they better make a dark and serious story like in gw1.

ArenaNet has explicitly stated several times that Abaddon is dead. The only way he would have ever returned was in the fractal option from Season 1.

As for the Six Gods in general – the only way I see them returning is if they pick up on the Menzies/Dhuum storyline and/or we go into the Mists (non-Fractal) as some form of elite dungeon ala Underworld/Fissure of Woe/Dominion of Anguish like in GW1.
