Guild Wars 2

Hello all. I am returning to guild wars 2 after taking off for a year. I got bored with other games and decided that since I had so much fun in GW2 before to give it another go. I quit in January of 2014 so I see that a lot of things have changed. I just wanted to check in and see if anyone has anything major that I need to look at or be aware of that has changed significantly. I have read a lot of the patch notes but I figured it would be better coming from actual players. The last update I remember was the launch of Ascended Armor and that was it. Well since you are a returning player ill tell you whats new. Practically nothing. If you do dungeons/fotm you got 2 new boss fractals and 3 new normal fractals (one of which isnt a copy paste out of season 1). Do you like Spvp? you got a new deathmatch map that you can’t play in ranked matches, enjoy! oh and WvW? You have ruins instead of the water in the middle of borderlands and a new map called edge of the mists which is use to farm champions and karma and has nothing to do with wvw.

So OP if you left because there wasn’t anything new you aren’t going to be around long. Even if you buy past LS from season 2 (yes you have to buy it) it won’t keep you around for very long. Now my post is dripping in cynicism but I do enjoy the game. So if you do wana play the game again and ever feel lost on stuff (im not a great guide for pvp stuff) shoot me a pm in game.

UI has changed quite a bit, but the core is the same. First thing to check is the most likely reset of WvW skills. You may also want to go through your inventories and bank to see if you can put more things in the wallet (I still have old transmutation crystals, lol).

My most noticable thing coming back was of course the dailies. That and getting crap loot taking up more inventory space. I still dont know wtf the spoons are for.

Spoons are part of the new collections. Once you get one and it’s “checked off” you can sell it. You don’t have to save your spoons. When you fill the collection, you get a reward of some kind and achievement points.

As for your question OP, there haven’t been huge changes to the base game, but there are account bound WvW masterys now, the PvP reward system has been completely redone (there are probably new maps since you played too), there’s a new WvW map (as already stated by others) and there are two new PvE zones which people seem to enjoy.

There are new events in the open world, new jumping puzzles.

But the big news is the new expansion coming out, which we’ll start hearing more about in the next couple of weeks.
