Guild Wars 2

Hey, I suppose I’ll get straight to the point.
It’s been 2 years since I’ve played Guild Wars 2 and I managed to set aside some time to get back on.
I’m in love with stories and narration, especially when it comes to games. Is there anything I’m suppose to watch/read before getting back on?

Note: I missed Living World Season 1 & 2 and apparently I can’t purchase them. I cry.

You can purchase LW2 from the gem store.

Other than that there are some youtubers that recap the story and such I just don’t recall their names because I’m not that much into it. I’m certain I have seen people mention them here. So maybe others can lead you there.

You can also play LS2 with a friend if they own it. They can open it so you can experience the story. You won’t see some dialogues (ask your friend to read those to you), you won’t be able to interact with objects needed to move things along, and you won’t get rewards or achieves unless you own the chapter, but you’ll see most everything and hear all the voice acting.

The full story in order goes:

• Personal Story (with dungeon story modes inter spaced)
• Living World Season 1
• LW Season 2
• Heart of Thorns
• LW Season 3

The only one that’s inaccessible is Season 1. There is a short recap in-game called Scarlet’s War (activated through your Story Journal), but there are also youtube videos which cover it in much more detail.

Season 2 and HoT can be purchased through the gem store. But HoT can’t be bought with gems, you have to pay real money directly – you can also get it from various online and real-world retailers and it might be cheaper that way.

If you just want the story and don’t mind missing the achievements and items you can play through Season 2 with a friend for free.

Only the first chapter of Season 3 is out at the moment and that will unlock for free when you log into the game. At some point Chapter 2 will be released and from that point on you’ll have to pay for Chapter 1 if you missed it.
