Hey guys, I just returned to the game from a LONG break. I started playing during beta and have been playing since day 1. I played for a good while consistently but decided to take a break from this game and I decided to return with the idea that a lot of things have changed for the better and with the temptation to purchase Heart of Thorns for more content.

That being said, since I have returned a lot of things have changed and I have a few questions that I haven’t been able to figure out on my own and would appreciate any answers regarding them.

  • 1. I purchased 2 Primeval Armor Skin Sets back in like 2013 for two of my characters. Back then the Wardrobe System didn’t exist and they were single use so I did not use them at the time because I was in the process of leveling one of the characters I was going to use it on to level 80 and I didn’t want to waste Transmutation Stones on the way to 80. I’ve opened one set since I’ve been back and with the new Wardrobe system, it makes the purchase of the second set (Which is still freshly unopened) useless.

So is there a way to refund the one unopened set that I have for the Gem cost or am I screwed with the addition of the Wardrobe System on the second set?

  • 2. Upon transferring my old town clothes into the new format of outfits and armor skins, I noticed that I received about three stacks of the same outfit after it was credited to my account.

Why did it give me duplicates and stacks of them if it’s already permanently unlocked on my account? This seemed rather odd to me.

  • 3. Back when I played Karma was a fairly useless currency and I was curious if they have turned it into anything more important to have since I’ve been away and is there anything important/valuable it’s used for in Heart of Thorns or does Karma still hold almost no value?

I’ve looked at a few Karma Merchants, but nothing is really jumping out at me and showing me that anything has changed with it’s value over the years. I even still see the same merchants selling Bell Pepper and Ginger for Karma lol.

  • 4. I read there was a whole PvP revamp and with the change they removed Glory and things that were affiliated with it. I happen to have some unspent Glory, Glory Boosters and PvP Achievement Chests that can’t be opened anymore and only give me the option to destroy. Is there anything I can do with these?

1: The extra set can be used to get a free transmute (it won’t cost transmute charges) but it can’t really be refunded. I had a similar sad day with double fused dagger skins a while back. Used them both days before the wardrobe update, naturally.

2: The extra outfit items are useless. once you have all your stuff converted to outfits/potions, chuck ’em

3: In general karma is slightly more valuable. You may want to look in to chef crafted dyes, as they are quite valuable now that dyes are salvaged in to pigments that scribes need a lot of. I get a lot of mileage out of my karma for things like nutmeg. In addition, the pact commander mastry gives access to roving karma merchants that sell a daily inventory of rare or unique crafting recipies as well as items you can use to accelerate map rewards on all core tyria maps. There’s also a collection that will provide you with an item that allows you to trade karma each day for some semi-valuable stuff. Basically, Karma is a bit more valuable, but to get the value out of it you’re going to have to put in some work to unlock the converter or new merchants.

4: Sadly, those are completely outdated. before they removed glory they made sure to tell everyone to eat up all their boosters and glory items, but they don’t convert in to anything

Ouch… That’s definitely not the best things to hear.

I just contacted Arenanet’s Support Team about another issue that I had regarding a title that I completed all the necessary requirements for but wasn’t issued it because I wasn’t playing at the time.

Needlessly to say, they pretty much told me too bad and that it won’t be credited to my account even though I met the requirements to have it. Which is pretty sad…

Is Arenanet’s plan to try and stop people from returning to the game after a prolonged period of time? If so, I can see why some of the people I used to play with quit and my other friends that stopped playing around the same time I did are reluctant to return.

Not to mention the second reply to this thread “Run like hell dude, you going to regret coming back to this mess.” is definitely not a good sign lol…

Im a returned player and personally Ive found the game to be a huge improvement and Im loving it. I was really disappointed when the game came out – I persisted best I could and managed to level a character to 50 something before I quit in disgust. Ive logged on again about 2 weeks ago and Im playing all the time. Not sure why someone would say its a mess?

That happens on all forums that are specifically for fans of something. Go to any game, or band or TV show or movie’s forum and you will find a ton of people complaining about how bad it is, how it was better when X was Z or how it was never actually any good to begin with.

Put those people in any other situation, especially alongside fans of other games, bands, TV shows or movies that some people might think are similar and they will not let anyone say a bad word against it.

Yeah pretty much good luck guy. The different sets could be in regards to the different types light, medium and heavy. And yep your out of luck like the rest of us were. Arena their shafted the Veteran gamers who had already unlocked things prior to the Wardrobe and they will not reimburse anything for any reason it seems. Believe me you can put bugs and support tickets in till your blue in the face. Arena is only interested in revenue at this point not in the game or the gamer, regrettably. But if your into a Melee fighter your should be good as all of the classes are that, forget about condi (they are still dead weight I lost a build that I loved prior to this cruddy circle learning skills rather that a general progress of learning skills). But if you want to swing a weapon your going to have some fun. Stay away from HOT not survivable by yourself. This game and its original designed has change for the worse since the original Guildwars game. And while promises are always given from Anet their follow through leaves a lot to be desired. So things you might want to know:
1. Dungeons have been Nerfed – rewards no longer are valuable
2. Solo play in higher areas are not possible – good luck finding a group willing to work with you
3. I’d avoid the 10 man thing as once again you need a group
4. Legendary precursors can now be obtained through a progression of quests – be warned though you are going to go into areas of the game that you might not want to go but that’s the way it is. Fractals and WVW and PVP. Best wishes on that.
5. Enjoy the hack and slash way and get yourself some berserker gear any will work the rest of the armors are useless and doesn’t look like is going to be fixed for overall game play.
6. Right now the game is focused on making money rather than the gamer so be ready to spend a fortune in the Gem store for crafting goods and sell anything you don’t need.
Many folks like myself that I have gamed with log on for 15-20 to do the daily or collect the chest and log out. People are focusing on farming at this point to make a buck in an economy that is not player friendly and based on the trends is not going to get fixed.

Apart from that grab yourself a drink, sit down and stand in line for your turn at the lets watch a system that needed to not be fixed go down the tubes with a great FLUSH. Best wishes.
