So I am a returning player but literally have forgotten everything about the game and don’t know where to start I feel a bit overwhelmed. I did use one of my lv 80 boosts on a warrior because my other main characters are ranged (ele and ranger). I want to know what I should start doing and how to gear up this warrior (ex. should i just buy berzerker pearl weapons/ zerker armor etc in trade post?). I have not played HoT yet either so any any information is greatly appreciated. I just felt like returning due to the new PoF expansion coming out.

I was also considering the Rev class just because it’s new to me as well but what is the condition of them right now? I’ve heard they arent that good after some nerf that occured.

It all depends on what you want to do.
If you do not care for high-end fractals and raids, anything works on general pve.
If you care about raids and high-end fractals I recommend going condition route on warrior not power. Do some research on the builds. Power warrior is very weak compared to condition, but that lack of output only shows where monsters have huge amounts of health and your damage over time effects have the time they need to start rolling.

If you care about farming fractals for money know that people use condition phalanx strength berserker, tempest x3 (highest damage dealer in the game atm) and 1 chronomancer.
It will be a bit hard to find a spot in a PUG with a class outside of those 3 for fractal farm.

I recommend doing little bit of HOT story at start and get glider ASAP. will help you whatever you try to do afterwards, even in vanilla world zones.

If you are into WvW i can’t help you – dont like that stuff never done it, never will.

If you wanna do sPvP i wouldnt recommend stressing what class to play about it since you can always make a level 1 character and join with it, without having it as a ‘main’.

Good luck.

Warrior could be the right choice for your first soldier profession, I suggest you to get first Ascended Accessory, wich can be useful for every character, with berserker stats, then get weapons and in the end your 6 pieces of armor. Greatsword is good starter weapon and you can have one with a HoT story related quest (don’t follow the link if you don’t want spoilers) https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Knight_of_the_Thorn

To familiarize with the class try some hotjoin and unranked PvP match, watch some footage and then do the game mode you like the most!

Welcome back.
I suggest you to start with a “trial”, using all classes you want into spvp ground ( just vs bots is fine ) in order to try traits, skills, weapons, and animations before wasting a boost on something you couldn’t like.

Revenants are fun imho, but seems that they are with the soulbeast currently the worst new specializzation. That said, everything changes ( planning to play a class just because is currently good/op won’t need that you have all classes maxed and account bound items to share. You can do this but you’ll need a little time ).

Ps: as a warrior you should try ofc berserk items, but also a condi build with the HoT specializzation could be worth a shot too.

https://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki

Here you can find all builds for every single class, and also for every modality you want to play. There’s also a rotation so it will be really easy to understand.

What? No. Do not waste your money on that garbage. This isn’t 2012-14.
If you plan on getting stuff, at least get the right ones. Vipers.

What? No. Don’t start wrong. Greatsword is an OK weapon for PvP. For PvE it’s a well below average even for a power build. Axe is the good one, if you go power route.
Sword+Torch / Longbow are the good ones for Condition build. Mace maybe for PvP.

EDIT: Here’s a link which imo is more useful than Metabattle. https://qtfy.eu/guildwars/benchmarks-august-balance-patch/

Worry not, GS is the way to go for power. And also his Ranger will thank him to have picked the GS when Soulbeast will come.

GS is the way to play a PS banner mightbot with extremely poor output.
That is a 100% support role.
Axe is the best power weapon by far for general PvE usage.

GS is way better than Axe for Open World as it give you good fury uptime that paired with Signet Mastery it become even better.

He is new to warrior and an evade is always useful.

He can get a free ascended Shield/Scepter/Greatsword/Sword/Dagger from the quest, not an Axe. But if you want to give him enough golds to level Weaponsmith and craft an Axe I’ll don’t have nothing to say about it.

Said so, take Axe if you’ll want to try a power necromancer.

Axe is way better because of the insane auto-attacks which you can do while moving.
Only good move of GS is the 100blades which makes you stationary = more dead.
Signet mastery is equally good if not better with Axe, since it hits so many more times thus more criticals = more use of ferocity. And about the fury part, sure maybe, but axe offhand offers quickness which gs has not access to by itself.

Evade move is great, that I must admit its the best move of GS for utility and some damage outside 100blades. 4 and 5 are pretty meh at best for PvE usage. 1 (auto) is pathetic.

He doesn’t have to craft any ascended weaponry if he doesn’t have it. He can always either: farm and get a legendary in future. use an exotic one. get one from PoF elite spec I think firebrand is the one, maybe Mesmer gets axe too? Not sure about that one.

I just like GS cause the animations and dmg.
Axe skills and animation are ridicolus to me.
Character does not seem a warrior at all.
Damage btw is really good.

lol wut?
Axe better than GS with Signet Mastery? Axe’s AA is the only good thing it have in PvE, it have no cleave worth casting out of it.

Standing still for the Hundred Blades is handicapping but is nothing once learnt how to use it and Greatsword’s mobility can really help clearing mob faster than axe.

GS builds have more Rage than Axe’s builds and more, more cleave, more might generation thanks to GS’s trait and more Fury uptime thanks to the burst (furious burst’s fury uptime isn’t good without other fury sources)

And GS can be also used to solo champions, I can’t say so for Axe.

Hello WB. I will keep it very simple yet understandable.I did same (returning player)

Buy LS2 and LS3 and HoT (preff HoT + PoF pack)

Boosted account have enough gear for Fractals T1-T2.
Do your LS2 and all achievement for EASY Ascended
Do your Hot Chapter 1 full achievement for EASY Ascended Amulet
Do Daily Fractals get Rings put some +9 infusions.
Try to get enough AR for T3 and then you can earn money and could get good gear from t3 fractals.
Another route is Dungeon Runs since your boosted account have decent gear for to run it.
Join a guild and ask them to GM runs= 2 week of GM run preff Sunday 2 get 12 tokens which can get accesiories ascended

Warrior will be a reactive class who punish buttonmashers, elementalist will get an interesting melee build and ranger will have the ability to merge with his pet gaining new skills and powergful synergy.
