Ok, so I played beta, I played up to 80. Defeated Zaitan and all that jazz. Then my friends stopped playing (aka it wasn’t wow) and our guild felt very empty. Anyway work, real life and other things got in the way.

I came back and did fractals on the day it launched but again experience the same problem I am now.

Now I’m back properly and more than a little lost. I caught the closing ceremony and did some of the invasion story line and have been on a lot pottering about and raising my crafting and levelling alts, but I am lost as to how to progress my level 80.

I understand what is available in game but it’s often a little murky to me as a player what to do next. So I need some advice. I don’t have much good gear so, 1st what routes do I have available to help me improve my gear (and where to find it) and can anyone help maybe point towards some resources to help improve my build.

My main is an elementalist (yes I know people will say reroll, but I like it still), I have about 100K karma (but only 3 laurels) so anything I can do immediately.

Btw I appreciate just linking to information as well as I don’t mind having a read.

Sorry for the ramble!

Start Running fractals as soon as you can to get your fractal level up. Once you get 10+ you can start getting Ascended Rings (Big Stat increases as well as offensive infusion slots). They’re also a great way to make money.

Do your dailies as much as you can to get a steady stream of Laurels in—they’re helpful. Infusions, Boosters, etc.

ALWAYS get your Monthly done.

Also they just released crafting to 500 to allow for Ascended Weapons (slight increase over Exotic). So if you get a chance to level your crafting, do that. But it will be expensive.

Good luck!

or go for the challenge https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/The-Ascension-Challenge-Vol-1/first#post2893625

I agree with klaz too though, starting fractals sounds like a good idea, but it all depends on what you enjoy.

Sounds like a good plan, thank you. Anything I can do with this karma at the moment or is it just a useless thing at the moment?

Ill add to Klasmaunt

Ascended weapons are like the latest stats and the gear for it hasn’t been released. It takes about 120g to lvl crafting to 500 so you can actually make it. Better off ignoring it for now.

My suggestions would be:

1) Join a PVE or PVX guild. Theres some great medium sized guilds out there that do not use their members for influence. I can point out http://knights-of-ares.enjin.com/ but I will be bias, its the guild I’ve been in for 7 months now.

2) Run dungeons daily. This is where your PVE guild comes in. If you see them call out for a dungeon ask them to join. ARES has a great mentor system where a whole rank of officers are dedicated to teach and lead dungeons. The dungeons you should run every day are COF (path 1 and 2) COE (Path 1) AC (Path 1 and 3) SE (Path 1). Those dungeons would take about 2-3hrs less if you have mentors and would earn you 8g 56s and whatever you get from champion loot bags. Now if you are low level you could go for the lower dungeons.

3) The famous Queensdale Champ Farm. It is the most famous way to make gold and earn reasonable Experience. I would suggest staying off this but its your choice. WARNING: May cause player to burn out from the game.

4) Explore! It is important that you have all waypoints and have the map unfogged. A lot of the parts of the game require you to have maps open. The best thing is you get pretty good exploration and even though it can get annoying if you try to 100% complete 5 maps at once, it is fun to add a little variety.

5} Gear is not too important while you level. It is already pretty cheap. You could get away with low level gear till 40 and then get lvl 40 gear, then wait till 65 then get 65 gear and lastly 80 Exotics. If you have been saving up the dungeon runs from each day. You should have enough gold to get a full set and weapons of exotic. Then you want to focus on Superior runes, sigils and finally trinkets.

6) The matter comes to picking a good guild. If you want to avoid people yelling at you, telling you your a noob and spending the least time for most reward, join a supportive community. Guilds will carry you through dungeons, help when you get stuck in a map completion and much more stuff that you will get stuck on in the game.

I hope this helped and that it didn’t seem like an advertisement for my guild :p Also Welcome back man. A lot has changed, get ready to catch up.

You can use the Karma to get exotic armor if you like. I think each piece costs like 75K? I am not too sure about these however, I tend to use the trading post as I find it easy to make gold.
