Guild Wars 2

Hi all ive decided to return to GW2 after 18months+ away, i just wanted to get some advice on things i should do/try that may be new. Im not looking for anyone to tell me classes or builds to play as i imagine you’re all probably sick of that.

I plan on starting fresh with a new character as ive forgotten pretty much everything lol. Basically im just looking for some pointers on things to do, or look out for. Thanks in advance

I’ve done the same thing. Was gone for over a year and now back.

I started a new character just to learn the game again – I’m having fun, but finding the PVE for a low level character can be painful. Maybe it’s my choice of an Engineer as a class. But anyways – nice to be challenged.

Ok thanks for the replies. Silly question: how does the living story work? Ive read a little about it but still confused, is it an extension of the personal story that im supposed to do after completing story, or is it an activity that can be done at anytime. Like i said i plan on starting fresh with a new proffesion and really want the know the order in which they do things kitten much has changed/been added

Season 1 is currently unavailable. It was originally released as temporary content, though they are investigating ways to bring it back.

Season 2 is designed for level 80 characters (I believe?) and you need to buy it from the gem store if you weren’t around for the initial release- each episode was free for two weeks after release. You can play it without ever having finished the personal story, however I think there are references and continuations of lore elements that might get spoiler’d should you choose to skip to Season 2… However with Season 1 currently missing you will find some plot threads confusing, because it sort of relies on you knowing the story from Season 1.

EDIT: Just to clarify, chronologically the Living World storylines occur after the Personal Story.

The order is (timeline-wise):

Personal Story
Living Story Season One
Living Story Season Two (Can be purchased, if not unlocked)
Heart of Thorn (Personal) Story

You can play them in any order you choose, though. (Of course, LS S1 is no longer available, and HoT (P)S is not yet available.)
