As a returning player iss it worth picking up the Living Story season 2 on the grem store? TBH I am not much of a story guy, I skip all cut scenes I can, and mainly want to focus on WvW. However if it is worth it for gear or money I would be interested.

You won’t get any gold from the LS.
If you are interested in AP and/or sinister trinkets then get it.
If you want the carapace/luminescent armor skin then get it.
If you are not interested in story (as you said) and don’t want the previous 2 points I mentioned then don’t get it.

Belzebu summarises it quite nicely. I’d also say that if you want to get the most out of HoT story wise, then it’s also worth buying it. You can still follow the story without cutscenes- a lot of the story is explained through NPCs talking whilst you’re running from place to place.

LS2 is also necessary if you want to craft Mawdrey- an ascended backpiece and also a bloodstone dust eater item.

From the Tangled Paths chapter, you get a BL key as a reward. This particular chapter takes about 15-20 mins to complete, rewards loads of champ bags alongside the key. The rewards are character based, so can be repeated on all of your characters. This isn’t much more effective than doing keyfarming on a lowbie, but I find it more entertaining.

Do I have to finish the level 80 story line? I haven’t tried it but it sounds like it is bugged atm.

No, you don’t need to finish your own personal story to do any of the LS.

though there some things in the ls2 that talk about in the story mode, so you might want to.
