So I just downloaded GW2 two days ago after being away from the game for over a year, maybe two years, no idea wasn’t keeping track. Anyway I found myself really enjoying this game again and I’m the type that’s not shy about spending a little money for convenience so I dropped $50 on some gems to get those unlimited harvesting items. Great, they work as expected, the one issue I have with how they handle them is the need to bank them to swap them to alts. This works of course but to me it’s just adding an inconvenience to a convenience item.

I rarely give any praise to SWTOR’s F2P or as I call it Free to Try model but one thing they did right is just allow you to copy account bound items that you’ve purchased to any character. I honestly don’t understand why GW2 doesn’t do the same. If you’re allowed to use them on any character, you’ve already bought them there’s really no reason not to just let a person copy them to each toon so they don’t have to hassle with going back to town, banking them and swapping every time they play a different character. For me this is small but it’s big b/c I’m an altaholic, I got this game on day one and before the first week was out I had bought 4 more slots to bring my total to 8 characters, one of every class.

My other gripe would be with the miniatures system, wasn’t around when I played before but again I would like it a lot more if it wasn’t an inventory grab. Don’t get me wrong I know what they’re doing, give you the cool little pets that take up space in hopes it will get you to spend money to buy more storage slots which is fine I’ve bought a few way back when I used to play just b/c I’m a pack rat ankitten ot even opposed to buying more if I felt I needed to but needing to use that space for cosmetic items will always be a put off for me.

Anyway, just my two cents after returning from a long hiatus from the game. I left b/c I got bored with it but for some reason right now I’m having a lot of fun with the game.

Miniatures don’t take up space anymore. Right click, add to wardrobe, and there’s an interface in your hero panel. One of the things they got right in 2014.

Because we can’t be angry about both?

odd, toward the end some text runs together but when i go in the edit window it reads fine…

that line should read “I’m a pack rat but I’m not even…”

So do you just delete the inventory icon after you do that? I doubled clicked it to add to wardrobe but that item doesn’t consume itself. Or does double clicking only summon and not add to wardrobe automatically?

Re: miniatures.

The wardrobe system can hold most if not all miniatures so you do not have to store them in inventory. To store a Mini in the wardrobe, right click it and choose Add to Account Wardrobe. To display the mini on any character, go to the Hero panel (H is the default keybind, or click the shield with a sword across it icon in the upper left of the UI. Choose Miniatures. Clicking on a mini in the collection panel that appears puts it into a check box which you can check to display that mini.

Cheers.

Double click on a mini summons it, you need to RClick, as above.

Double click only activates it. Right click and click Add to Account Wardrobe. Short of already account bound miniatures, it will ask if you want to account bind the miniature. Click yes and it will disappear.

To equip a miniature that’s in the account wardrobe, Click H, then go to the minatures tab. Any that are in your inventory (not account bound) will be on top. Then the ones you’ve unlocked will be below. Click on the one you want to equip from the collection section and it will populate the icon on the top. Make sure it’s checked or it will be hidden.

And of course, this is why they don’t let you copy them. Easy way to get you to spend more money! See also: copper-fed salvage kit.

Pre-launch, Colin listed things that make MMOs bad. They are all now in GW2.

I’d like to see them implement this as a Mystic Forge recipe. Put your gem store gathering tools into the MForge with some other stuff, get 2 gem store gathering tools out. Seems reasonable.
