Returning to GW2: What's changed?

I haven’t played GW2 since release. I bought it but due to time constraints I could only play it for a couple of weeks.

I now have more free time on my hands and would like to get back into the game however I’m concerned that it has changed so much I won’t know what’s going on anymore.

Could anyone update me on what’s happened and whether it is even worth coming back?

Thanks!

A TLDR for that link; Fought some critters, fought an insane Sylvari, accidently woke up a Dragon.

There have been some nice QoL changes (like the wallet) and a some cool content additions (Fractals and Edge of the Mist spring to mind) but you should be fine jumping back in.

Some big changes were made on April 15th and possibly the one that will affect you the most is the trait changes. I’d advise you read up on traits here – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trait

Whether it’s worth coming back is really up to you. I’d say yes as Living Story Season 2 starts July the 1st and it could be quite interesting.

Some small changes here and there but game’s pretty much the same.

The game is the same. The gemstore is now the gemmall.

Zerk is the average Joe build. Don’t pat yourself in the back too hard.

Honestly I’d be surprised if you could remember every detail of a game you played for a few weeks almost 2 years ago, even if it hadn’t changed at all in that time.

A lot has changed. A lot of the new content was tempoary and therefore no longer around, but there’s been a lot of updates in other ways too, including: a new zone, new dungeon, new world boss, new equipment tier, achievement rewards and a new currency linked to daily and monthly achievements, lots of balance changes, new healing skills, traits now have to be unlocked but can be changed anywhere for free, all the skins you acquire are now saved in a wardrobe….

But basically I think the best approach would be to just start playing again as if it’s a new game. Don’t delete any characters you still have but maybe start a new one and you’ll pick everything up as you go along.

Seriously dude, if you’ve only played for 2 weeks after release any changes aren’t gonna make much difference to you. So just start again and enjoy all the game has to offer. I’m almost envious of you starting from scratch lol.
