I have played mmos on and off for a long time now. I have heard some things about HoT

I logged in yesterday after not playing since 5 months after launch of the game.

My Guardian is now level 80 and i really have no idea where i am.

What area should i head to do? Maybe start with a fresh line of quests and areas to run around and explore?

I almost forgot even how to play. Is there already a post someone can link to help me out?

Would i be better off starting over from level 1? I have few level 20’s engineer, theif

Any opinions on the best way to jump back in would be appreciated.

Thank you

Ottomo

Whatever you do, do not delete the existing characters. They have birthday presents coming!

You might want to start a new character, just until you get the hang of things again. But once you do, you’ll be happy not to have to level the guardian again.

If you want to play with your guardian, choose any map that you like. Silverwastes (a map that appeared after you left) is pretty good for coin and stuff. The entrance is from Brisban Wildlands.

The game is kind of divided into 2 difficulty types. The original maps, which are pretty easy. And the new maps, which have much harder mobs for a solo player. I suggest you spend a few days in the vanilla maps. You can do events and map completion. That will re-teach you your basic skills. After that you can try Silverwastes and Dry top. (Presumably you don’t have HoT and those new maps).

Silverwastes and Dry Top are good maps to go to. They’re to the left of Brisban Wildlands.

Silverwastes and Dry top are not necessarily the best place for someone who doesn’t remember his skills to go to.

I would recommend Orr if you want a level 80 area to learn your skills on. .

This is a good place to re-start. There’s always plenty of people in these maps that can help you out and the events are very simple. Dry Top usually has someone linking which events are where and Silverwastes is straightforward. They will also get you ready for what HoT has to offer if you decide to go that route and they provide you with a fair amount of loot for you to get w/e you need.
I would also suggest completing your story will help you a lot and if you like to, a little map completion never hurt no body.

/shrug. This is a guy that’s been gone over 2 and a half years and doesn’t remember how to play or his skills. I’m not so sure that his best spot to relearn from scratch is the highest level area with the hardest mobs that vanilla Tyria offers, but he can always go there and find out.

Thanks again for your advice. I played in Dry Top for a while it really helped. I also started a level 1 just to get the hang of things again,
