Rev prove why Support is lacking
You might want to have a look at the latest POI. Watch the next 3 minutes or so.
To be honest, it’s not support, it’s healing.
Ofensive support like might/fury or anything else that buff power/precision/ferocity is always welcome. Even retaliation is helpfull.
Defensive support like protection, condi cleanse, stability, aegis, reflect and projectile destruction are key support tools.
But healing and dedicated healer does not have a real place in this game because you’re not supposed to mitigate damage by healing but by playing smartly. From my point of view it was obvious that the ventari legend would be off with it’s clumsy mechanisms and the only great tool being it’s projectile destruction uptime. Do you really think that dragging a stone behind you would be fun?
At the moment the revenant lack to many tools to be viable in game. Oh! you can have a little fun but the profession is still in need for real mitigation tools that help it to survive (block/invul/aegis/vigor/evade skills/blind). I won’t argue on DPS since the profession ain’t complete yet. Still, underwater combat should have been looked at, it’s a pity that even legends don’t work underwater.
Honnestly, I hope they don’t balance the profession around the fact that there will be an hypothetical elite specialization that focus on block (aka. hint on glint shield and cristal based skills). A profession need to be viable without having to rely on an elite specialization.
As said in your identical reddit post (which you seem to have abandoned):
Or maybe, just maybe, people didn’t want a completely new unfinished profession in their runs? Especially considering that no one is really good at playing any of them at the moment since no one have had the time to really get into the class.
Yes, we know that you want a holy trinity in the game. You have been shouting about it for years. When will you figure out that the game might not be for you and move on?

It proved everybody and their neighborhood prefer doing damage.
This is what the most desired and preferred play style of the whole player base. It is the idea of GW2 to remove dedicated healing role by encourage alternative supportive roles in the first place.
I’ve tried Rev and it is not as bad as many players claimed, and i believe it will get better when dps traitline is released.
Teamwork in my head is everyone trying to provide something useful to the party, rather than fully rely on a single dedicated player.
Well the mob scaling methodology doesn’t help either. As they increase in level, they simply hit harder (outpacing damage mitigation), and get tons of HP (which means you need ample DPS to defeat). Even the Husk toughness falls into this trap, as it simply changes the DPS weakness to condi.
Mordrem as a whole also revealed a huge problem with CC balance in PvE; as we need them more there, but don’t have access to enough to counter the number and frequency of Mordem AOE attacks. So again, we land up more on DPS focus then the intended split roles of control and DPS to tackle them.
The new Mordrem I imagine being even worse at this, as they’ve shown we need to use our more unconventional control skills just avoid dying to them.
I’m assuming the reason why support is useless is because we’ve learned to work without it…. HoT may be different…. we may need a support role.

This ^^
Revenant “Support” is bad because it’s not the type of Support the game needs. But saying that Support in general isn’t needed in the game is plain wrong and usually comes from people that do not understand how the game works.
