Rangers getting staff as their next weapon, but Revs are the first to get a melee version…

This makes me assume that the ranger version will be range most sadly :/ And probably a rip from the guardian or ele version (probably rip 1 ability per attunement and change it slightly per 1-5)

Was kinda hoping for a nice cleave melee weap with maybe some support options to bring to parties. Maybe even a weaker version of vines for pvp

Ranger staff will be ranged. I don’t really see why you’re complaining about something we have very little information about.

and druids are not really known for killing people with a staff
but fighting like gandalf would be fun

We’ve known about druids using staff since the HoT announcement at Pax. From what the short clip looked like, it the staff will be a ranged weapon. We’ve also known about melee staff revenant from around the same time, when a video of Rytlock was shown using it as such.

Considering we don’t have the druid staff skills datamined or announced yet, I think it’s hard to jump to conclusions that it will be a “rip from the guardian or ele version”. So far they’ve managed to make all current staff-wielders feel unique and interesting, despite wielding the same weapon.

Personally, I don’t think it’s a problem that rangers are getting another ranged weapon. There is already a good selection of melee weapons and I’m sure we’ll get more with later specialisation and weapon additions. Adding a magic weapon to a medium class is a nice touch and makes rangers more distinct.

even i like the idea of having a staff
i think ranger needs more important a new Mainhand
for me a mace as control weapon would be perfect
Axe and Sword are a bit condi and a bit dmg at the same time, both are useful in other situations but cant fill the role of a control weapon
A bit vuln, a weak daze, maybe a boon rip and it would offer new ways to play
thats my biggest wish for ranger currently
