Asuran Mesmer Mind Tricks: “These aren’t the golems you’re looking for.”
I’m using the Legendary Centaur Stance and the Legendary Dwarf Stance.
Imagine my shock and horror when I dive into a lake only to discover I have zero under water skills for both of those stances. I’m at an extreme disadvantage vs. other players. I can edit my stances if I wish (but not while in combat) to one that works, but that shouldn’t be necessary. Why should I be forced to play differently when swimming? I’m geared with stats to heal (primary) and tank (secondary).
Under water, all I can use are my spear skills…and speaking of spears, why do I have two aquatic weapon slots when I can only use a spear?!? No tridents or harpoon guns.
Have you set your underwater legends? Skill sets for non-revenant are different for out of water and under water, so you may not even have a legend selected.
During development, Revenants didn’t have the ability to weapon swap (like Elementalists and Engineers,) but that got changed in response to player feedback. (Source) That’s why Revenants are designed with only one underwater weapon, but have two underwater weapon slots.
Stances and aquatic combat are super awkward right now, however. Stances should probably be treated more like utility skills or Ranger pets, where you have alternates set for aquatic combat, even if your traits would still be mismatched.
Edit: Do Revenants have separate underwater stance selections? My Revenant’s only been in the water once or twice, and I rarely change stance off Shiro, so I’m not sure what the situation actually is.
Edit Edit: Just logged in and checked. If I change out Jalis (no water) for Mallyx (water,) the change remains when I go on land. Awkward, if I want to use Shiro and Jalis, even weirder if I want to use Jalis and Ventari. It’s easy to switch stances, but redoing your traits to match is too much hassle unless you’re spending all day underwater.

For revenants underwater legends are the same as on land, if you change them under water you have to change them back on land. Its a ludicrous situation, the class is clearly unfinished. Not to mention the idiocy of glint not having underwater skills despite being mainly just passive buffs.
I’ve set up all 4 of my available legendary stances. Only 2 of them work under water. The 2 I normally use do not work under water. They are not compatible with water (they should adapt). If my stances should change automatically when I dive in, they are not doing so.
My gear, traits and stats are not set up to use the other stances. So my choices are limited and I am still handicapped due to my preferred choices.
One of two possible explenations for this:
1) Anet was lazy and didn’t bother finishing the class before the expansion released
or
2) Anet doesn’t care about under water combat anymore and won’t be making huge use of it in the future, thus felt no reason to “complete” the Revenant class by giving them a full set of underwater abilities and weapons.
1 is obviously bad and 2, while I don’t like underwater combat at all is bad in it’s own way because it ignores the fact that under water combat is still a thing in vanilla GW2.
I’m not sure which of those two scenarios is worse.
An unfinished class is going to seem very sloppy to new players.

I think its a combnation of both.
Hmm…not to derail my own topic, but I took a look at the new Druid glyphs and none of them are compatible with water either and it makes no sense. I wonder if this is a trend…
A very, scary trend.
Makes me glad I don’t use glyphs. Looks like HoT is all about land and air. No swimming allowed. I’m thinking all of the new classes are not water compatible at present for whatever reason. At least I can hope these will all be addressed in a future update.

I’m not sure either, though I’m leaning towards UW combat being in a similar position on ANet’s list of things to care about as explorable dungeons.

chrono wells and scrapper gyros also do not work under water.
RIP water combat.
Also, y’all revs can’t use racial skills either. It’s a very odd profession and does a few new things so idk if they’ve got all the kinks worked out yet.

I’m afraid that in this case it’s actually both of those options combined. Yes, they ae clearly trying hard to forget that underwater combat exists, but it is also true, that the launch got rushed when the game was still in unfinished state.

IT gets better.
Have you tried activating glints utils before going underwater yet?
nevermind, Artemis Thuras.8795 is correct. I didn’t know what underwater legends were till i went in there and played around with it. You have to choose your F1 avatars.
Thanks
