All these “don’t like it don’t use it” people not even reading the OP…
The problem here is that people can exploit the camera changes, putting people who do not at a disadvantage.
It’s not “exploiting the camera”, it’s literally just using it. Anyways, Anet know that it can be used for way and they even approved of it- go watch the PoI about the camera changes if you don’t believe me.
So yeah, it’s working as intended. There’s nothing to fix.

Oh, so putting arrow carts by the walls to destroy other machines outside of your line of sight is now officially a part of the player experience, very fun and now it sure as hell doesn’t seem cheap that I know this. Thanks specs-man!

Shouldn’t even see by what standarts? by game standarts you could always see them, by real life standarts…uhm, then we’d have to remove the option of arrow cart aiming at siege on any walls at all since you shouldnt be able to see it unless its really poor placed.
I don’t understand the complaints about this, this is not a new mechanic people, as long as they knew how everyone could do it before.
Look, if there is something bugged here then it is the fact that you can aim an arrow cart somewhere where there is no line of sight for the arrow cart in the first place. And in contrast to e.g. trebs it has a direct ground target aiming instead of direction and power.
If you think the cam is wrong because you can actually see the place you want to target then I have to say to you: the only solution to that is to make WvW use first person view only. Then it will be “realistic” as in “you can only see from your characters position”. Do you want that? I’d rather have the arrow cart aiming fixed. Or switched to a treb-like aiming, but that would be too slow.
You can revert my camera changes when you pry them from my cold, dead eyes.

And do you really think it’s a good mechanic? It was kind of an exploit before and now it went official. You could bug out all the HoM titles before too, I guess it means that’s okay.
I posted here in the first place because people make pointless posts without actually reading the OP, which brings a legitimate concern despite the overly sensationalist title. Let’s stay on topic.

LoS is what I meant, I never asked for realism in WvW. I’ll edit my post.

The fixed fov doesnt have to be terrible, just not able to let you remove all siege inside objects like towers/keeps.
The current max FoV is barely above an acceptable level. Any smaller fixednFoV that wasn’t too small would still let people see over walls.
Complaining to revert a fix that was long awaited is ridiculous. Get your own issue fixed instead of trying to ruin something good for the rest of us.
Wut? I’m trying to get the issue fixed, it’s not just mine.
Eh, just my opinion, but arrow carts should be able to shoot over walls. They rain arrows in a huge arch anyways.
Besides, the guy on the other side of the wall has an equal opportunity to fire his arrow cart over the wall as well.
OP you must be kidding…
Yes, AC’s are now broken in WvW. No, Anet does not give a rats bum about WvW. And no, there was no “windowed” mode that allow an AC to shoot THAT far over a wall. There’s a reason why it’s referred to as a zoom hack.
its not like that treb was going to do anything but annoy the other zerg for a few tiny moments
its not like that treb was going to do anything but annoy the other zerg for a few tiny moments
And that is exactly what is was used for. Enough time to get people to come and help you.
well even on my full zerker guard i dont move away from the door, i just facetank it and hammer autoattack the door for perma protection on my allies.
Lock FoV and camera height settings while on siege. Problem solved. It’s silly that this hasn’t happened already.
You nailed it here.
While there are certainly bugs with the new camera (It is in Beta after all).

Not quite sure what your response even was. Your first sentence also seems to cut off, as you started it with ‘while’. Does Anet have a position on this?
Can’t wait until your complaining forces ANet to require LOS of siege weaponry or convert all siege to treb/catapult mechanic. Ah the rivers of tears if that happens will be sublime!

They probably just didn’t think about that. Not everyone thinks of everything after all. Even working on a team of people, not all possible scenarios are necessarily going to be covered. Give them time to tweak it and find all these things, that’s what betas are for. Using the live client to beta it (and we all knew (or at least those of us that read) that it would be a beta) gives them a much larger pool to draw data from.
I was so disappointed with these kittenty camera changes, i really want to return to the game but can’t because of the absolutely horrible and non responsive camera turning. Seriously feels like something made for a console.
I don’t see the problem in that video? He is arcing arrows over a wall… isn’t that exactly how an AC is supposed to work? Previously you were screwed over by the camera and the crappy AOE placement of AC’s. you don’t need to be able to see the target to be able to shoot at it…
I like wvw and all that but the change was needed and is for the better. They just need to tweak a few things (another nerf to arrow carts.)
Wut? I’m trying to get the issue fixed, it’s not just mine.
That’s the thing: it’s not an issue. It’s something that was known about and intended by the developers.

Define bug: “A software bug is an error, flaw, failure, or fault in a computer program or system that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways.”
Although it’s in the beta stage, everyone expects errors; but unless you intended for people to exploit the vertical camera height to hit previously unreachable areas and have arrow carts have an unrealistic trejectory, it’s most definitely a bug.
A good solution keeping the camera changes would be to have arrow carts function similar to trebuchets with an actual projectiles.
Wut? I’m trying to get the issue fixed, it’s not just mine.
That’s the thing: it’s not an issue. It’s something that was known about and intended by the developers.
Weird, why does the other siege not go through walls then?

It doesn’t go through walls, it goes over walls. Big difference.

Every piece of software has bugs in it, especially when you live in a world where you can download patches without much if any overhead. Calling it beta just means that it hasn’t had months of rigorous testing applied

But when I place my other siege on the same spot as in the vid in the OP it does not hit anything but wall.
Whats even weirder when I placed my ac at the same spot last week it did not hit the treb. It did not do so for 2.5 years, so I kinda doubt that Anet intended to do this and ignored it for 2.5 years.

Key words: with the camera → as in, not a bug with the camera. It may still very well be a bug, or more specifically an artifact of the AC designed with the old camera in mind, but it’s not the camera that’s at fault, but at worst the design of the AC.

No, it does go through walls. The trajectory of the arrows are such that they go through walls and other solid objects.

Now the OP may have edited the title or post but I don’t see anywhere that he says its a bug.
And whether it is a bug or not is irrelevant. It’s probably an unintended consequence of the camera change.
But the way the camera now works with Arrowcarts is horrible. It needs to be changed.

Is that because it couldn’t reach, or because you couldn’t see the Treb? Cause I kind of bet that it could reach, but you couldn’t effectively target the Treb before.

Except it could easily hit the treb. By going into windowed move and making a short, wide window you could force a high FoV and do exactly what you’re seeing in the video.
Bugs with camera ? You mean bugs in wvw, we can see in video that this guy is shooting thru walls.

I didn’t say anything about it being a bug until the administrator said what I had written was not a bug. I stated I didn’t think anyone was using it for its intended purpose and that the benefits didn’t outweigh the negatives.
