Would have liked to send this somehow directly to a feedback person…but couldnt really find some.

As the Topic says im with GW2 since prestart. Im playing very regular and often. Over those years i enjoyed it quiet a lot as my 15 chars would let it assume. I tried everything in the beginning and as it is, i dont like Dungeons and Fractals much, and WvW or PvP i dislike with a passion ( this is still a harmless expression ). Im someone who likes to play WITH people instead AGAINST people.
And i’m sure lot of people will flame me for what i have to get of my chest. But i know also there are people who think the same.
So during all the time playing i’ve been watching world chat and map chat a lot. My experience is that lately the community got very toxic, especially during meta events, but not only. So if that happens im usually turn off chat or say something to help. Often enough i get flamed just because i try to help. Or offer a solution.
Nonetheless it really is happening now that i refuse to do so, as it’s not rewarding or leading to something.
Also the Frustration Level with this game increased a lot for me. I was looking forward to the expansion, being a player of GW2 and for the most liking it a lot. So after release of HoT i was really into it to see what, where when and how. Soon enough i got to the point where i thought, why did they do that? It is not fun nor rewarding, it is annyoing and blocking the experience of a good game. I am speaking here of the the fact that a lot is locked behind the success of certain activities. For example mastery points for those so called adventures, just terrible. No fun and most annyoing. If i wanted to play a jump and run game, i would play something else but not GW2.
At a point where i want to level masteries, im blocked because i cant get the necessary points. As mentioned they are locked behind those activities and other options that are way to extreme of unplayable ( again here the adventures, or the achievements of the story, really some of them are way to difficult).
One of the biggest disapppointment is the precursor crafting, as someone who never had the luck in all the time to find a precursor, i was looking forward to the crafting. And got screwed over big times.
You know, forcing someone to play a certain playstyle to get the needed materials to craft the precursor is simply wrong, most wrong. Why do i need to play PVP or WVW, for getting this? Why were you not so considerate to actually put in the options for PVPers to get the stuff their way and PVEer their own way. To connect this was always wrong and inconsiderate, not customer friendly. I mean it is possible, just look at the fossilized insects for amnrite weapons, PVEers do the events, PVPers the reward track.
That’s how it should have been. I’m less annoyed by the fact that the pre crafting takes a long time and a lot of money that is needed over time. Never had it anyway. But i would have been able to get it over the time.
Same locking problem goes also for some collections. You need this event to get that item. Great….event hardly shows up or in case of Meta, failes 99% of the time ( yes thats a sidekick to the dreaded Tangled Depths map). This map must be the most disliked/hated one ever. Just today i read a conversation between people. Example: TD is a good map, if you dont enter it… Anymore questions? I have not seen this Meta being successful once single time…and i dont know how often i participated…im actually tired of it currently.
On the other hand my favorite map is Auric Basin, this is the most beautiful one. I like the story around the exalted and hope there will be more in the future.

Fazit: for someone who enjoyed the game a long time, im tending more and more towards ‘meh, no thank you’…. i hope and wish for better times again. I want the joy back.

PS: Oh and for the love of life, get a new RNG, this is just hilarious….ppl who are with the game from the beginning get hardly anyhting and new accounts getting everything thrown after…

So now i have the most of my chest. Please refrain starting a flamewar.
Also would like to talk to some player who think the same, to see what everyone is about to do and go on. PM me? ^^

I could tell this was going to be overly dramatic from the title with the 3 days Headstart tagged on there. That 3 days definitely made a difference.

You said meta events fail 99% of the time. That’s exaggeration which means you’re being overly dramatic.

And of course you wouldn’t see your own post as being dramatic. You can’t look from the outside in when you are already inside.

@Andraus.3874 Still thats not dramatic, its an experience and was aimed at Tangled Depths, and for the one percent that was working i only heard it from others or actually saw the end sequence in a mini video. Nontheless, you were being sarcastic, which is nothing else as a form of flaming too.
You made your comment, please now move on.

Ok that was just one example. Also if you read your post that’s not what you were saying. Although it’s quite unclear what you were saying at that point. It sounds like you are complaining about collections for items and then say that 99% of meta events fail. Which implies you can’t get any collections done because all the meta events fail, not just TD meta which Wouldn’t really set you back on all the collections like you had been implying. Then added something about the TD meta but in parentheses which makes it seem like that is not the main focus of your point. But this:

“PS: Oh and for the love of life, get a new RNG, this is just hilarious….ppl who are with the game from the beginning get hardly anyhting and new accounts getting everything thrown after…”

Now again maybe I don’t know what you are saying. But this reads like “New players get EVERYTHING and veterans get HARDLY anything.” This is called all or nothing thinking. Also a symptom of being over dramatic. So I read those two things and you came off as over dramatic.

Well we agree that we disagree. That’s it. A view of experience is unique, i shared mine, as i was thinking about it a while and to get it of my chest. That there will be people to disagree is always sure as the sun rises. Hence i was saying i would have preferred to send it somewho directly. Anyhow, i know im not alone with my thoughts, only one of the few who dared to share it, cause it was shown that you cant voice your experience without beind derailed or flamed. Haters gonna hate, flamers gonna flame, likers gonna like. Business as usual. Where you all fit in, is obviously your choice by acting.

Except I never disagreed. I was just pointing out the over dramatic parts. In fact I agree the adventures are tedious. It’s not too hard to get silvers and get the mastery points but it’s still boring and a bit tedious. Any points behind gold is ridiculous and should be moved to silver for some events. Although it’s more of a balance issue than a silver/gold issue. Some timers should just be adjusted if they want to keep the mastery points behind golds. I was able to get gold after the first few tries on some adventures and others I know I won’t bother to ever attempt it as after an hour or so I’m lucky to get silver. This seems like another management issue to add to the management issue list which I won’t go into here but this is also another reason I’ve been looking at new mmo’s coming out.

I do agree that ‘hiding’ some things behind the premise of a meta success can be frustrating. Like in Tangled Depths it is apparently really hard to get the whole event done. As Luac said he has not seen it once, I cannot remember seeing it either. Something is not balanced in the mechanics and then there are hero points or vistas and such that cannot be reached, so map completion (or mastery points) is blocked.

Also some event chains seem to be harder than they need to be, so it can be frustrating as well. And for me who loves the PvE aspects but does not like to do PvP/WvW etc it also is frustrating that I’d have to do them to get certain things (which is no fun at all for me) or pay a lot of gold to buy things. It does put a bit of a blow on things that there are no alternatives for folks who really only want to do PvE, or for the PvP players who don’t wan to PvE. That could be done better.

I personally did not think that Luac was overly dramatic. What I see is someone who is frustrated with a game he loved for a long time, and speaks from his own experience. He doesn’t try to speak for everyone, so I can take that easily. While one might not share the same experience, that does not make his less valid. Sadly I have to agree with his observation that if something negative is said, people come up and start to insult or ask how you dare to not speaking glowing colours (No idea if that happens here since I am not around frequently, but in game I saw it many times). So I commend him for speaking up in hopes that something might change, despite the danger of being verbally smashed for it.

Since we have been with the expansion in actual game play (not beta testing) for a bit now, there is a great chance for rethinking balances and adjusting it to more realistic and less frustrating levels. I think that would be a great chance for Arenanet to figure out if all the mechanics they implemented really work or not.

In either way I do hope that the fun comes back for you Luac! Let’s see what the future brings.

Thoroughly enjoyed your post. Thank you! I am playing other games until ANet finishes balancing this expansion. Life is good if I have fun. It Is also fun for me to watch the Gw2 forum now, like watching a Titanic movie. I hope you have fun too, whatever choice you make. Just stick to only doing the things you like. And remember all mmorpg games are putting up their old expansions for free, or for very low prices. It is a good strategy to pick up another game, and come back after you read about the changes. Take care.

@OP I feel like we’re wearing the same shoes.
I’ve played since the beta weekends, took a 6 month break after the ascended news broke, which went against what they said were going to do for the game. Came back and spent most of the my time in WvW.

The game is getting more toxic because anet is putting more elements into the game that splits from their original design. When you put in more exclusive content like 10 man raids, that forces players to only take the best class the best spec the best players, it invites and promotes a competitive attitude with it that will spread into other sections of the game.

When you introduce failing events as a way to progress you introduce a split on how players have played this game for 3 years, they promoted playing together in events with participation and no “kill stealing” involved, and ressing players to help you. Then you introduce meta’s like TD which I also have never seen succeed, and I’ve even ferried into organized maps to try, the only way I will be able to do that map is to join up with a TTS group doing it, much like triple trouble.

Then you run into the players in map chat who get it done and think it’s fine, learn to play, git gud etc. I’m sure there’s a lot of players who don’t even bother with that map anymore because frankly who cares it’s not worth the trouble, it’s the worse out of the 4 new maps. Yes Auric basin is my favorite as well.

The RNG issue, all over the place with that one. I have a friend who use to get a couple exotics and a bunch of rares every single fractal run, for me, I’d be lucky to get 1 exotic a week and they had less magic find than me. Never got a precursor, and I know of people who have gotten 3 or 4 of them.

I noticed when I went away for a month and came back, the first few days seemed like my account got a magic find boost cause I picked up a few exotics from that, maybe new accounts get the same “effect”. One of my friends who got his account banned for a week, came back and noticed that they weren’t getting good drops anymore. I’m sure there isn’t a system in place for all this, but it just “really” feels/seems like there is.

I’m also annoyed with the mastery points. I skipped all the living story achievements for a reason (because I really didn’t want to redo it all over again, how about giving me access to the achievements the first time I go through it), and now I will be forced to do them if I want to progress in the mastery lines. I’m annoyed with the adventures, in much of the same reason I don’t like jumping puzzles, I didn’t sign up for super mario brothers.

Not to mention the jump function in this game is not very responsive against edges and it drives me nuts, if I’m pushing against a ledge in front of me I have to slam my spacebar in order to jump, or stop jump then push forward. But you really only need to go that far into mastery if you are going to do the new legendary crafting.

I know some of the reasoning in forcing players to do certain parts of the game is trying to promote that part of the game, like trying to get pve players into wvw or spvp, and vice versa for those other modes. But if players were interested in the other areas they would try it on their own, we don’t need to be “forced” into the other areas of the game. While achievements were always the light reward in dabbling in other areas, masteries are now the heavy handed way to push you into them, creating more annoyances and frustration with the game.

My other frustrations come from WvW and Guildshalls, and the attention Spvp is getting right now, yup I’m jealous. They’ve destroyed WvW for me, but meh whatever at the end of the day, it’s just a game, and Anet can destroy it however they want. In the meantime I’m working on my very first legendary, an old one not the new one cause well precursor bought vs crafted is another good anet joke…
I’ll just have to keep my eye out for something else as well.

Another derailing post. ^^

I Played initially for 6 months, then took a long break to play eso and wildstar, then came back for HOT, and I’m loving it, here’s my take:

New zones – nice challenge, can solo everything apart from champs, Meta events in later zones fail a lot, and that’s how it should be – I don’t need to win all the time.

Masteries is great fun, its really nice having multiple avenues for progression, and its actually pulled me in to old zones to build my fractal masteries, really looking forward to getting ley-lines later.

Precursers – Not for me, but its going to drive the economy and I get we all benefit from that, also those that don’t need to get a legendary x weeks and just gather as they go may well like the option. It doesn’t affect me so its all good.

Story telling, MUCH improved, reminds me in some ways of GW1 story telling.

Raids, looking forward to doing it at some point once people relax a bit about it, again its a nice option in there, doesn’t affect me that I’m not getting value out of that content just now.

‘Grind’ is only a grind if you do something you don’t want to do, if your doing something and your not enjoying it then your being your own worst enemy and a fool.

graphics @ music – totally gorgeous.

Crafting – quite satisfying, really difficult to achieve max level, gives me long term goals (and I’m not aiming for a legendary yet)

Cost – I happily treat myself to £8 a month, and I get 40 hours a month out of that easy – very nice and I’m in control.

Guild – I’m in a big family friendly guild, and it’s pleasant and helpful with regular events – something you don’t see anymore in other mmorpg.

- earning gold – 2-5 a day without trying to hard, seems fine.

The negative – WVW, needs work, I’m looking forward to the changes. I played wvw in ESO and that gives perspective on what is good and bad, and GW" just needs a bit of design work to engage the masses.

You see its all about perspective, if you enjoy a game, play it, if you don’t enjoy a game don’t. Much like a party, the worst kind of party goer is the one that stand in the middle and moans about everything ‘they’ don’t enjoy – be a man and take responsibility for your own gaming choices, and enjoy what you do select.

I don’t understand why people think that because someone has critique that they hate it all so much they shouldn’t play at all.

This is like with everything. There are good things and bad things, there is no black and white. There are things in the game I LOVE LOVE LOVE.. and others that I hate. Everyone is allowed to say the things they don’t like without hearing “well then don’t play”.

I have been with GW since shortly after the first game came out, with GW2 pretty much from the start. I love this game. Just because there are things I don’t like in the expansion does not mean that I should stop playing it, that’s bs.

Just saying.
