Hey folks -

I’ve had several instances where I’ve found a rich metal vein, only to tap it and get a single ore before it collapses. This is usually after I’ve found and depleted another rich vein somewhere else recently.

Anyone else experiencing this? It’s very disappointing.

Yes, ive had this bug pretty much since the game begun. No idea what causes it. I think ive had it on non rich nodes as well.

Are you in Silverwastes? The rich nodes there behave differently for me.

I see this in Silverwastes fairly often. Annoying but generally not a huge issue for me personally.

In some areas, certain node types have limits to how often they can be collected from. There doesn’t seem to be a simple, single way these limits work though.

I’ve seen it only in Silverwastes and some of the new zones and only with Rich Mithril. I’ve always ‘assumed’ there was a cap on how many rich mithril veins we could tap and the bug was that we could even whack secondary rich veins at all. (Not that I really have evidence for that — it just seems consistent with other ANet time gating.)

Those who want ANet to address this: I suggest that you identify the location and map /ip and include it in either an in-game /bug report when it happens or a support ticket. That’s the best way to give the QA team the data it needs to troubleshoot.

In SW i know there are at least 2 nodes and from my experience the first node behaves normally and then the 2nd rich node it behaves as a non-rich node.Guess we will have to find out if this was intended to work that way from Anet

I’ve only ever seen this in SW. There, I see it semi-regularly.

Normal mithril also has a limit at least in Malchor’s Leap.

Oh? That’s a new one to me. Most nodes have some sort of limit, but most of us don’t come anywhere close to reaching them.

  • Ori & Ancient: most people know that there’s a daily account limit per map.
  • Rich Ori: also an account limit per map
  • Blooming Passiflora in Southsun: 3 nodes/account. Less well-known: ordinary passiflora is also limited to 15 nodes/day. Even less well-known: elder wood is limited (I think it might 18, but I run out of patience before I run out of nodes).

I’ve seen people claim iron and platinum limits in some maps, but without stating their methodology for confirming their theory.

We know that there are daily caps (sometimes character, sometimes account) and that they aren’t consistently applied from map to map. So it’s hard to tell what bug, if any, the OP is seeing.

Again, the best way to get ANet to take a look is via the in-game /bug reporting tool (or a support ticket), including as many details as you can about when/where.

I have farmed Elder Wood in far higher numbers than 18 nodes in a day. I guess it might be character based, but it def isn’t account wide or the cap is triple that at least.

Didn’t know about the ori/ancient wood one on a map though. Prob never see enough in one map to discover it.

Silverwastes tend to have a few 1-2 hit “rich” nodes. But no other occurances outside that for me

It is also not exactly map wide either. There might be some sort of global cap as well but I’ve never reached that. The way to see the region based one is most easily seen with Bloodstone nodes. You know you maxed out one region when you see nodes you haven’t mined yet disappear from the map after mining one that you are next to but then you can go over to a different region and continue mining additional ones.

That is similar to when I hit the limit for mithril. I was only mining on the right side of the map. I was no longer able to mine any of the nodes on the east side by when I checked on the west side things were normal.

As other folks have pointed out – yeah, this was in the Silverwastes, now that I think about it.

Sounds like Anet should have someone look into the ore nodes in that zone.

In non-SW maps, normal nodes reset after maybe 30 minutes, and rich nodes reset 24 hours. If there’s more than one rich node in the same map (i.e. iron), all behave like they’re supposed to. In SW, if there are more than one rich mithril node in the same map, the first will be normal (9x mining), but the second will only give one. So either there’s a map bug since SW came out, or this is intended so players don’t over farm mithril.

Not to derail the discussion, but … who’s actually farming Mithril?!

I have rows upon rows of stacks of mithril Ingots in my bank plus my material storage. I cannot remember the last time I hit a Mithril node. It’s gotta be over a year plus. Mithril drops like rain and I don’t have an umbrella.

I just assumed it was this way for everyone. Is there some use or refinement or market I have no clue about?

Guild Halls use 43,000 mithril ore (ingots, kegs etc), so I expect that is a large reason. Plus deldrimor ingots require it and a lot of precursor crafting uses a great deal of deldrimor

It’s also not a case of farming it sometimes, but players like me often don’t like to pass a node untouched and gather just for when it might be needed.

I use mithril to farm Dawn and Dusk. I make lots of Rare Greatswords, and those cost quite a lot of mats.

Same for me. I’m not farming it, per se, but I’m collecting it whenever I see it. Dusk is the whole reason I’m in the Silverwastes to begin with.

People like me (and others posted above me) use mithril for various things. I actually do daily ascended crafting that uses 50 mithril ingots a day.

Even if I wasn’t doing the crafting, I’m the type of player that doesn’t pass up any node. If its there, I’m gathering it no matter what it is.

I have a feeling this is the silverwastes node/s you are speaking of. It seems to me there is a glitch where Anet have incorrectly labeled one of the regular nodes with the “rich” title. I have reported this in game and am yet to see a fix for it.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

That doesn’t explain why I only get one hit out of it. It’d be less confusing if I got 3 hits.
