The botters teleport to node after node, when they do gather, they are under the ground making it impossible to target them to report them.

Stand next to a Rich Iron Ore node and watch them appear.

I really hope Anet fixes this soon, im a little upset that i paid for HOT, but they cant stop people botting?…… maybe i should of just bought a hack instead? Either way, i love this game, but im not sure i can keep playing if it carries on like this.

Please sort it out Anet! <3

The thing is there is no risk at the moment! Yeah im sure its great for new players, but eventually the economy will collapse. If i could get my money back for HOT i’d be very tempted at this point.
Can someone at Anet calm me down please? Tell me you will look into this! <3

Collapse cause of Iron Ore? Hardly.

And it’s not great for new players, it’s great for everyone who is at least somewhat smart. I’m playing since pre-purchase and I love the bots who lower the prices of items on the TP.

The only hard that bots can do is hurt the massive income of people who play the TP to get rich. Now with bots active they can’t do their job as easy.

They can and have stopped botting before. The question remains though is why would they be driven to bot in the first place? The process of gathering should be fun enough where one doesn’t even think about it. When going on my logging and mining rounds I noticed people simply disappearing too.

What are the two most important things in an MMO? 1.PvP balance 2.Economy. The most important thing isn’t relevant to the topic at hand so I’ll focus on the second: economy. Those who use third party programs should be given the utmost attention, most of all in sPvP and WvW but also in gathering. They aren’t good for the economy since at launch they’d deflate prices too much, meaning honest gatherers didn’t make enough from selling their goods.

I have noticed a slight dip in ascended mat prices. Instead of selling them if they get too low I may as well store them and wait for either a new legendary to work on or sell the mats at a more favorable time.

Iron Ore was an example, all nodes are up for grabs, that will upset things.

Ever since anet made the prices for ascended mats explode i couldn’t give a crap. if they make insignias cost lesst than 10g again i would be the happiest dude ever

Do you also like people who steal cars or whatever, because then you can buy them
cheaper there ? Most bots run on stolen / hacked accounts, so if you like them you
support account stealing.

Personally i also hate these bots especially since its my primary source of earning gold
so low prices are bad for me.

ANet should finally found a receipe against the whole glitching under the map stuff.
In EQ2 whenever that happend for example, you were just falling for 5-10 seconds
and then there was a message that it was detected and you were ported to a save
spot.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Nice one, i’ll be sure to keep my finger on print screen when gathering. But still, they are in the floor, you cant even see there names most of the time.

Mostly you can see their name only from farer away. I took 5-6 screenshots maybe
a half year ago and reportet them .. but its really hard to get them.

How is it my fault that people use same passwords for everything, their ignorance when registering to suspicious sites that offer free stuff and don’t use for example mobile authentication?

Just like any other smart person I use such things to my adventage without breaking any rules. My best friend was hacked and I don’t blame the people who did it, I blame him for using the same thing for everything and registering the same way on some very very shady sites.

So yeah, I don’t support hackers, but I’ve got nothing on botting. I’ve reported/screenshot my fair share of hackers that I saw, but as a person who never gathers nodes, cause that’s boring as all hell, I never get the chance to screenshot those bots. I’m just satisfied to see the prices on the TP fall down to a somewhat understandable price cause the TP lords rule it all.

The TP Lords learnt to play the game, the hackers are just pure breaking it.

…blabla…
Stand next to a Rich Iron Ore node and watch them appear.
…blabla…

Ingame I got so often yelled at or reported because of —-——- people that write stuff like this!

Just today it happend again… Like hundrets of other players I have (currently 15) char standing only on the rich iron node in brisban. Every time I relog on the next char at least one kid there starts crying about “botting”…

Only because some don’t understand what smart other player are doing it doesn’t mean others are bots or anything like that!

No, i know the difference of logging in and out. Do you log in and out under the ground? The smart players wont even bother doing that anymore….

The odds on the character appearing out of thin air is something like are are far smaller than it being a bot IMO, if you do that then expect to be reported, because your observable behaviour is precisely that exhibited by pos-hacking bots.

As far as I know there are people who park their alts at rich nodes and just log on them from time to time to gather and relog. Those types of people appear ‘out of thin air’ and vanish just the same cause they logged, gathered, relogged, changed character, gather etc etc

Ladies and gentlemen, that’s kindergarten-behaviour, esp. the Bush-like “you’re either with us, or with the …”-approach.
Keep playing and don’t care, the economy is not going to crash, only you’re income on the tp might take a hit.

That’s the problem Doesn’t seem that op is mistaken, but for sure there are enough kids ingame that think “appearing ouf of thin air” (=just logging in with a lot of alts) is botting.

We talk about gathering UNDER THE MAP here .. not about people that login
to harvest normally over the map. Totally normal that people park there characters
at some nodes, and i also even relog often at the platinum node in Timberline
to get on other IPs.

There is a way to report bots even if you don’t have the name. Type /ip in chat to get the map identification number. Then when you report in game, report underground bots at map IP (number) at the server time (not your local time), and the location if it’s near a waypoint or poi. They should be able to see all who were on that map at that time.

One thing to look for is if a bot surfaces near you and gives you a buff. You can mous over the buff and get the char’s name from that.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Sound advice, i didnt know about the /ip command, thank you.
