I’ve been pretty free of Gold Sellers for quite awhile now, and all of a sudden this weekend they’re back pretty strong. (It’s our old favorite group, of course, who I can’t name due to forum policy). Expecting a resurgence of players, perhaps, with the approach of Heart of Thorns?

Well of course, they can just as easily buy up a bunch of accounts at $10 per during the sale too.

Depends on how many stolen accounts, stolen credit cards, and even how likely the sellers think they can find ‘customers’ — all of that tends to be more common when the game is discounted and/or there is some sort of special event going on.
/block, /report, and they’ll start to dwindle, as always.

All I’d say is report and ignore but ultimately be happy, gold sellers mean one thing and that is the game is popular and heavily played otherwise they’d have no market to sell their gold too!

Yeah .. mostly its something like a new Flash exploit or whatever where lot of people get their accounts stolen.
The ones I’ve seen had nonsense names, which normally means accounts that were bought. Kind of strange they should pop up so long after the last sale instead of right after the sale, unless I just didn’t get any right after the sale.

If they are bought they are normally bought with stolen credit card infos.
The goldseller wouldn’t make money if they bought accounts, that are mostly banned
in maybe 1-2 hours, for their own money.

gold sellers are in fact selling gold as much as you could by paying anet so theres no point in buyin from gold sellers to begin with

It seems that the moment I enter the PvP lobby, I start getting bombarded, over and over by these guys. Extremely irritating to not be able to read the chat window. Please give us an option to block all whispers.

You can just remove whispers from your chatwindow if you really want to block
ALL whispers.
I got an infraction when I brought this subject up. I’m rather mad about it.
I noticed a rise in phishing scams too. Such as the "your account will be suspended, unless you come to our “OFFICIAL” looking site. and give your account info and beg for forgiveness."

they usually sell gold as cheap as 93g for 10 US dollar
wich surprise surprise gets you 800 gems wich = around 100 g so there is really no reason to pay them other than you wanting to be banned and hacked

They’ve needed to give us a way to filter conversations based on messages we want blocked with with key words we choose (such as the common ones used by the gold sellers). Its a no brainer that we just never get…..
